Ugh gross, there's microtransactions in Wolfenstein Youngblood and Crash Team Racing now!

And, of all the useless tchotchkeys they could've used, why in God's name are we buying Nazi gold to get new looks for our power armor???

What kind of microtransactions are in Crash Team Racing? Because I just want a fun kart game and not get annoyed by "get more fuel or you have to wait to do this race!" kind of thing.

I'm not surprised they used some tchotchkey microtransaction model in Youngblood, from what I've read he was pretty anti-Nazi.

It's just like Fortnite now! Kart parts, cosmetics and characters rotate in the shop and you can pay real money for the in game money. Now, you may think that doesn't sound too bad, but just remember this is Activision and how badly they messed up that Star Wars game with this stuff.

Also Crash Team Racing is a 20 year old game that they've added microtransactions to.

It's just a thing that doens't have any purpose. It's a knick-knack, a trinket. Like Beanie Babies, or those tipping birds that dip their beaks in water. Or Funko Pops.

Instead of paying to buy Nazi gold I would've instead gone with other Da'at Yichud technology or maybe just a big pile of weapons. I'm sure they've got tons of concept art for things that didn't get into the other games by now.

Holy poo poo my wife gifted CTR to her nephew like two weeks ago and I was "wow, at least he'll stay away from fortnite cosmetics" for a bit... I think I'll pass on it for now and just enjoy Dirt 4 and Dirt Rally.

I was having a beer with my neighbour and his 8 year old came in alternately crying pleading and cajoling to get a marshmallow suit for Fortnite. I only reserved that level of whining to get an entire game when I were a lad.

The ingame store was in it at launch, and everything was available with ingame currency. It looks like the stuff you buy now was in the first Season they did, which was all earnable free just by playing in the first month, and it's all new content that wasn't in the base game: next month is a Spyro collection, for instance. That seems fair.

Same here. Sure the game is free but they take games for granted so now the natural thing is to whine for some lovely cosmetic because classmates have it.

I'm kind of old now but I've gamed all my life, so it's really strange to see people desperate to see horse armour, like they MUST have it. 15 euro for it, and you can't buy the necessary currency in increments of 15 so they bought 25 euro worth, which he immediately spent because he's a child.

I rarely preorder, let alone purchase on the first few weeks or even months after release. The only two that ive preordered since Doom 2016 were Battlefield V and The Division 2. BFV was a poo poo sandwich (still had +100h of fun with goons) and Div2 has been good so far but I'm playing a lot safer lately and it pays off.

Added microtransactions after release as a common thing (so far is Activision doing it I think) is going to blow.

Yeah I've got doom 3 on ps4. It's a good game.

It may feel outdated if someone hasn't played it before but it still feels as good as it did back then.

Remember the bfg edition does have different lighting than the original, plus mounts a flashlight on your suit.

I think it's worth the ten bucks. It's done well, it's the bfg edition so complete as possible with content and this edition will carry with you to ps5.

Being able to have your game patched automatically was amazing compared to having to either hunt down the patches online or install them from a DVD attached to a physical magazine for the few years before it was taken and twisted to its most ugly and cynical form where you games get patched whether you want it or not and to make it worse than it was on release.

This is loving insane. Woah. So when a patch grown the size of the game, it create a new partition, or grown the size of the partition?

Realistically the only HDD game that patched itself was FFXI (there were two other MMOs but PSU/AOTI didn't support the HDD and just downloaded an executable patch to the memcard and Everquest Online Adventures did a disc expansion and then..I think just patched in memory?), which of course ran through the PlayOnline Viewer..which had its own partition too. From there when POL installed XI titles/packs it made a 12GB partition and just used what it needed inside of that. In 2012 they increased that partition to 22GB to make room for Seekers of Adoulin.

I started God of War last night to take a break from RDR2. I’m pretty impressed, it looks really good (the PS4 has actually acquitted itself way better graphically than I expected coming from my PC, in general) and the movement feels very smooth. It’s definitely a trip to go from RDR2’s bad controls, which refamiliarized me with the dual shock after having not used one for years, to GOWs. I’ve been ambivalent about the dual shock and historically preferred the 360 pad for stuff but it’s really good for action games like this.

The early fight with the tattooed Viking goku went on just long enough to be on the cusp of irritating, I was expecting him to not be dead the third time either and I’m sure he’ll be back for another inexplicably airborne fistfight but even despite my annoyance I couldn’t help but feel satisfied when I won.

Also Kratos is a terrible father, Midgardian social services should take Atreus somewhere where his development won’t be stunted

Word, that’s good to know, if that kind of fight became a semi regular thing I would be a lot less interested in the game.

Also I get the sense that beating monsters with your fists and then using R3 to rip em apart is supposed to be as effective as your axe, like it’s a playstyle option and not just a Rock Paper Scissors necessity for ice monsters

I’m like 99% sure it did, I remember being insanely excited when I got the beta test disk because I was like 13, and being glad I already had the hard drive because FFXI had been a huge pain to get working on launch

I would legit pay $60 for an EQOA re release on the PSN. It’s my favorite MMO from the era by a wide margin and I honestly think it could be pretty successful on mobile or with cosmetic transactions.

There are some people working on a private server but it’s been years and not much has changed. You can download and run the client single player on PC to explore the world apparently, though

Seagate Firecuda of the latest model (has Compute written on it) currently getting games installed. The ancient old drive I had in my PS3 was sacrificed to confirm it was a bad PS4 drive and it was stupidly smoother to use just in the interface, games took longer to load than back when everything worked just because of the age of and wear of the PS3 drive which came from an old business laptop.

Issues started the 29th and went full disaster yesterday. Back your stuff up if a drive starts acting up.
