So the mod

In other news, I just started a new ME campaign with the orcs. Pretty weird that the most viable orc lords are night goblin warlords. I have Azhag at level 6 and a night goblin warboss at level 4, and the night goblin warboss is the most useful by far.

Discount troops with poison and superb melee attack that are underestimated by the AI is pretty powerful. The spellcaster without spells and mediocre melee defence and his army of cowardly orc boys .. is not .. that useful.

Anyone up for baseless speculation? My money is on Grom the Paunch versus Eltharion the Grim combined with the desperately needed Greenskin rework.

Yeah, Eltharion vs. Grom the Paunch could be likely as a test run for WH1 factions and content coming to WH2 as DLC without needing the first game.

My only complaint with the mod is that some faction garrisons are just terrible and will regularly have 20/80 odds of defeating regular rebellions even if you invest in more troops and some mods just make the problem worse, last time I played I had a mod that removed minor settlement walls and kept capital city walls just so rebellions didn't keep me at home 24/7 and so enemy capitals weren't steamrolled by a couple low tier stacks on the open field.

TWW1 was their fastest selling game until Three Kingdoms. I think Rome 2 is still the best ever selling TW, though.

Warham undoubtably makes them crazy bank but it’s also the one that they have to pay royalties on. Games Workshop made £11.4M off of royalties last year - 87% of that was from PC and console games and a large chunk of that was from TW.

Nope. They killed it off over a period of like a year and a half while they worked on rebooting the setting because it wasn't as popular as 40K, hence why the initial Age of Sigmar release was Not!Space Marines and a bunch of old factions with new, trademarked names.

GW's IP licensing plan is to basically give developers a carte blanche so long as they properly represent their products. CA making an option where Chaos is defeated and the Age of Peace(?) reigning is not them giving the finger to GW, it's them rewarding players fot surviving the end game challenge.

I still feel that End Times is inevitable for Warhammer 3, since most of the factions are already represented and Nagash has had a brief cameo in WH2.

Age of Sigmar, FWIW, has been reasonably successful for them. It is sort of amusing the lack of an unified strategy but I guess it has worked out in the financials.

The DLC that I really want, if we won't get a new faction, is one that gives every TW:Warhammer 1 faction a starting position and LL in Vortex campaign and either makes them part of Vortex race or gives them their own story-line with unique mechanics. I would really like to see old races updated and properly integrated into TW:W2 and Mortal Empires is kinda it, but it's just kinda half-baked with its implementation and more importantly, utterly miserable to play and finish.

It sucked total rear end at first but imo it’s become a genuinely fun setting. It just doesn’t scratch the same itch as old Warhammer at all, also it’s still ludicrously expensive.

Somehow still more affordable than “10 skeletons at 50 bucks, you will need 250 skeletons”

Same. They can essentially add all of them to the Vortex map, though Empire and Brettonia would be the sub-faction minor powers in the New World and Araby respectively. But I'm okay with that. Norsca even has Skaeggi and only two LLs in ME, so adding a LL in Skaeggi and making them playable in Vortex would be really cool (to me).

Yeah the sigmarines, chaos, and the spooky skeletons have gotten more love than everyone else, but it looks like that’s changing. The orcs are getting a proper book and there’s a new faction that looks like it’s going to be basically Empire complete with the hats. Proper Tyrion-y elves and ogres after that.

It’s a shame they murdered Warhammer cuz a lot of the AoS factions would fitnpretty well in TW. Like Night Goblins being a whole roster of their own instead of a greenskin gimmick, or chaos leaning hard into the distinct gods instead of being faceless Archaon clones.
