From what I remember he was at least not awful at driving race cars. He was just another rich white dude who decided to drive race cars. If I had a fuckload of money around that time/age I'd have done exactly the same thing.

You know why they do that right? If the cat gets out of its own accord, it's (probably) fine. If it feels so bad it just sits there, it's something to be concerned about

Our vets never commented that their behaviour was diagnostic of anything. Where did you learn that?

It's more that if the cat reacts in a way that is unusual for that cat, it's cause for concern. My mother's petite black floofball, Soot, absolutely hates being picked up and will scream in protest under normal circumstances. She never bites, just yells and tries to get away. One time I noticed she was acting strange and hiding from me, and when I picked her up to get her to the vet, she curled into a tiny ball in my arms and quietly mrow'd at me. I almost cried because it was so out of character for her that I thought she was dying. She's fine now, by the way. 13 years old and still active and very sweet. https://mobile.twitter.com/samgrittner/status/708746414487113728

Some words for animals in languages that did not develop around them are great. The Swedes call raccoons "washing bears."

quote:The word "raccoon" was adopted into English from the native Powhatan term, as used in the Colony of Virginia. It was recorded on John Smith's list of Powhatan words as aroughcun, and on that of William Strachey as arathkone.[10] It has also been identified as a reflex of a Proto-Algonquian root *ahrah-koon-em, meaning "[the] one who rubs, scrubs and scratches with its hands".[11]

For well over a year I forgot the German word for raccoon (Waschbär) and believed it to be Müllkatze, literally "trash cat". I don't know where that came from but I maintain that it's a better word.
