I recommend his yearly 'Canucksploitation-a-thon' where he focuses on Canadian horror flicks. He also has some really good Godzilla reviews, which means a lot of his comments are 'NEXT GODZILLA WHEN' which while he enjoys doing them Toho is about the worst when it comes to flagging your stuff so I can't blame him for not rushing to do them all. Brandon was my first exposure to the animated flick Felidae which... is certainly a thing.

It's got a ton of genre actors doing their thing and Billy Zane just devouring every bit of scenery he can get his ravenous jaws on. Glorious. You can skip Bordello of Blood, though, unless you're some kind of odd Dennis Miller completionist.

It was a drat shame to hear what happened with Brad. I was willing to defend him back when I thought it was just about him leaving CA, and when I heard about the swatting incident, but then all that other stuff came to light and that certainly changed my view of the situation. I do still believe the swatting incident was real though, and it sucks, but it’s also no excuse for what he did. Being a victim doesn’t entitle someone to lash out like a complete rear end in a top hat and victimize others.

The American obsession with free speech as an end unto itself that has inherent moral value whenever performed has done a real number on people. (The point of speech protection is that it allows meaningful discourse, but since American culture is presently incapable of that it has turned into moist-eyed reverence for anyone making fart noises into a microphone.)

I can believe cops would get aggressive with anyone who didn’t fit their exact idea of what they were expecting or immediately submit and cower before them, but yeah that story makes no sense. Also Brad Jones seems like the exact kind of guy cops would intuitively like and get along with, unless maybe they saw his movie collection and thought he was some kind of pervert.

What makes the situation even stupider is that after the journalist who broke the story, Sophia narwitz was told by the ESA they took the information down she checked that it was down via the website and published the story. But the ESA never took the excel spreadsheet off the server, so cached versions of the page and archive.org versions still linked to the info. So the file on the server was taken down after the story broke and kiwifarms and others had ready downloaded it. And now it turns out that they still personal information and such from prior years on their server, also accessible by the wayback machine. And they only took down those older files today. The ESA is an utter shitshow security-wise.
