Maybe with a Dune tv series when the hero does a genocide people would be less shocked since he’s literally had prophetic dreams of leading a genocidal war the entire series.

I still like the idea of 2000 year old Bran as a tree-human hybrid with an endless series of Tirion clones.
(Or Drogo, since, you know)

Buzzfeed clickbait writers: which hero do we hate to root for more: Walter White or Paul Maud'dib?

I mean like the idea of the three-eyed raven/bran becoming an all-knowing godlike being is really cool, they just didn't build it up at all. The Dune Saga gives a nice blueprint for that buildup. I wonder if GRRM got the idea of the three-eyed-raven from Herbert.

Honestly, Dune would be way better as a Game of Thrones style prestige TV series imo. Having it be a couple of seasons worth would allow you to really get a feel for the world and the political intrigue. I'm not sure a two hour movie is a good format for such a narratively dense work. But from what I remember, the dude doing cinematography is the same guy from Blade Runner, so if nothing else it'll be pretty to look at.

We legit had 10 pages talking about this less than 100 pages back. smh

but for Sietch Tabr.

Inhale a perfect mix of desert cinnamon and zesty rear end crack along with fresh orgy fluid and stillsuit thighpads. A floral bouquet of salt, feces, and human filth completes this invigorating and pungent fragrance from Dune's bountiful cave regions beyond the shield wall.

There's that "how rich the odours of your sietch" scene where Jessica declares that she can sense through smell that the sietch produces its own plastics and chemical explosives. But it was almost certainly just the smell of spice-fed un-showered desert-dwellers.

I was 11 and tried to read Dune when the Lynch movie came out. I couldn't get into it at all and therefore didn't have enough interest to ask my parents to see the movie. I may have caught parts of it on TV but it never generated more than a "meh" from me.

Years later, Dune 2 came out and my college roommate introduced me to it. We played it all day in our own rooms one Saturday when we finally came up for a dinner break. We turned on the TV and coincidentally the Lynch movie was playing! We finished watching it and went back downstairs to play the game.

The Dune 2 video game led me to the Lynch movie which finally generated enough interest for me to try the book again. I think I consumed the series within a year or two. And years later I was still interested enough to try the @DuneAuthor dreck. And read this thread here.

So yes, Dune 2 > StarCraft 2.

I watched Lynch's Dune on a whim a couple months ago, but was pretty drunk and not totally paying attention. Then in the bookstore this week I saw a display with the Dune books and was like "Hey I should probably give this thing a shot." I'm like halfway through the book now and I'm having an experience not entirely unlike Paul, where I sort of know what's going to happen, in bits and pieces, but I have no idea how I'm going to get there.
