Personally, I think it's great for dialogue in the midst of a forum that's primarily Bernie supporters with some Warren supporters, to have one crazy Buttigieg guy. It's like the 30-50 feral hogs are coming through OUR yard.

Yeah, for someone supposedly so well versed in statistics, Nate Dumbass doesn't seem to grasp the basics of denominator effects. The graph shows that about 15% of the people who donated to Warren also donated to Bernie, and that between 5 and 10% of Biden's, Buttgieg's and Harris' supporters did too. Or, as Matty B puts so eloquently: https://twitter.com/MattBruenig/status/1158883254881128449

He’s also going to have trouble with the fact that polling is probably going to be off more this year than ever. The reputable pollsters can’t reach a representative slice of the population with the landlines being outdated combined with robocalls ruining picking up from unknown numbers. I expect a lot of surprises when voters start actually rolling in.

The Bernie interview on JRE was really good. He comes across so much better in a relaxed setting where he can actually give a bit of nuance to his proposals and doesn't have to worry about someone trying to bait him into a stupid loving zinger or whatever. Watching it made me really not want to watch the fake rear end bullshit puppet show debates. What a loving farce those are.

Opening them with the national anthem and a color guard gives away the game too much that the news networks are going for a sportscast feel.

Yes, although let's face it - this last one was kinda worth it just to see Bernie call Jake Tapper out to his smug-rear end face.

Problem is, after the election, there weren't any more presidential polls for him to analyze, but his corporate overlords still expected a constant flow of politics-related articles. Also, I think the fame might have gone to his head at some point and convinced him he was some kind of politics expert because the media liked his polling models. Younger people generally don’t show up for midterms, even more so than their already abysmal voting rates. I don’t think it’s a certainty or anything, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see an extra 3-5% swing in favor of progressives. Of course this is the hell timeline, there’s always a small chance that enough young white men have CHUDified to gently caress everything up for our country and the then the rest of the world with the incoming climate change disasters.

It’s hard to think of a better place for Bernie to share his message than Rogan’s show. Get in touch with young men who aren’t too ideological and who don’t usually participate in the process and show them why he’s worth voting for. That’s a brilliant booking.

I tend to think of those guys as gateways to more entrenched, openly political right-wingery*. I imagine a lot of people who follow those guys aren’t regular voters and haven’t formed hard opinions on things like economic philosophy. They’re white men so they’re extremely predisposed to conservatism and bigotry, but they’re young and not necessarily seeking out right wing opinions**, they just want to listen to Cool Drugs and MMA Guy Joe Rogan’s show. That makes them persuadable and a good place for Bernie to aim to explain what’s cool and good about socialism. There was a 10 page detail in the RWM thread a few months ago about how much Rogan does/doesn’t suck so I don’t want to get deep into it. I guess my position here is just “it’s good to appeal directly to the ignorant”. * I’m pretty sure he’s had Shapiro and other openly Republican guests on so that’s a big caveat on this. ** His appeal to people like this what makes his show potentially dangerous when he books right wingers. The important thing is that Bernie presented his message well, as he almost always does.

It is absurd that we do not have universal, high quality, affordable broadband access for every single American. According to the FCC, 39% of Americans living in rural areas lacked access to high-speed broadband internet and 30% don’t have access to mobile LTE broadband. We need strong broadband coverage across this country if business is going to thrive, create jobs and be competitive in the national and global economies. Quality broadband is essential for health care services, education and for the day-to-day needs of rural Americans.
