Out of curiosity, does anyone have people they recommend poaching for a given path? I just finished Edelgard's route and Felix had some really good unique dialogue with the bosses near the end, I want to know who to aim for on the other paths.

edit: Talking specifically from a story/character interaction standpoint, I know Lysithea is amazing and whatnot.

I’ve posted a lot about it but the entire Blue Lions house has things to say after chapter 17 Golden Deer for reasons that’ll become clear then

Like drat I wasn’t expecting to read the things I did out of Felix

Yeah I had good luck with Lethality/Asassinate on assassin/bowknight Ashe. His strength wasn't good enough to really hurt anything without a crit so all his utility was was weakening up fighter-types. And if they just happened to instantly die, then, great. I think those two abilities are better on mediocre units than people like Petra or Felix that are murdering people anyway.

No one really interacts toooo much in part two, not like that anyway, as that's when people can actually die but a few characters will chat up plot beats when it's relevant to them, like when you're bullying the other country etc etc. The only that super comes to mind is Lysithea, who jives well with Edelgard. Felix will always jive well in non-Lion paths for Dimitri bullying.

In general, while the exploration side of the game kinda feels like padding it's well done and everyone has dialog lines for basically everything, so it's safe to assume.

Just finished my first run.

Edelgard x Byleth
Linhardt x Lysithea
Hubert x Bernadetta
Mercedes x Annette
Lorenz x Marianne
Felix x Ingrid
Sylvain x Dorothea

Everyone else ended up alone. The funniest part is Ferdinand had A ranks with Bernie, Edelgard, Dorothea and Byleth but ended up alone. Everyone else not listed was also alone.

Honestly, trash-talking a man while she watches him die, because she’s “on stage,” and then going home to be inconsolable sounds very in-character for Dorothea.

Linhardt and Lysithea ended up very wholesome as well romantically since Linhardt finds a way to remove the crests and both marry as commoners in the Edelgard new wotld order.

I like to believe with Linhardt's research Edelgard gets her crests removed too.

I have a question about a battle that takes place immediately in part 2. Spoilers below.

I'm doing the Black Eagles Edelgard route. On the first mission post time-skip, The Great Bridge Coup, Judith called in Leonie and Ignatz in for backup (I never recruited either obviously). I killed them both. I never had any plans of recruiting them long term, but does this alter the playthrough/lock me out of anything longterm, or are the only consequences to that is me feeling bad :smith:

Once its post timeskip the only character you can recruit is Lysithea on that route. The only way to spare them is not kill them on the battlefield but the game wont acknowledge that you did it.

I recruited everyone and never had to murder anyone that wasnt Dimitri, Dedue, or part of the church. I should have just walked around Hilda in retrospect.

I also should have grinded supports since basically everyone I recruited that wasnt the select few I used consistently ended up alone.

This amuses me, because Having recruited them, they are replaced by the noble who was a rival of Lorenz' dad that you fight in Lorenz' paralogue. He then runs away the same turn her arrives as he sees things going south (before Judith gives the order)

Also, about the skills they are still needed. Obviously bow skills are all super good (Roots, +Hit and +range, +2range), but even other types of skills are good either against specific enemies or are good for certain scenarios (no-counters allowed, weaken enemies, etc).

Some of the latter Mastery of classes give skills (Sniper, Swordmaster, etc). Is it possible to use said skills with another class, or are those the only mastery that needs you the class equipped to be used?

You can only use it as that particular class.

Keep in mind that there's nothing wrong with staying as an Advanced class until the end of the game: you don't need to be a Master class in most cases. That said, those moves generally suck anyway.

And depending on how you juggled stats you probably wont even hit Master Class on more than a few units. Some of them need really high ranks in like 3 skills

Bow Knight is basically a stronger Sniper, though. It trades better growth of Sniper (and the skill on mastery) for having +2 range, more movement and canto.

Also another question: when does Edelgard gets her Emperor class? Apparently it lets her use magic, and is much better than her normal part 2 class otherwise, so...

Alright, I have found an Intended Feature of the game which has allowed me to do the impossible save Gilbert in the chapter where he joins you to fight Mikhail.

Once you kill Mikhail and the second part of the battle starts, you get all your Divine Pulse charges back. Then, you can reverse time backward to any point in the battle, even before killing Mikhail, and then re-kill him to get them back. Normally you would have no reason to do this because the fight isn't hard or anything, but Gilber was crit to death by an enemy SIX times in my run through of the map, so I needed all those Pulses to keep him alive.

No reward.

Well just got to the part of Golden Deer where we learn about The Empire's Mengele-esque crest experimentation on Lysithea's family and I am increasingly convinced that the proper response to Edelgard's complaints about the Church are the world's smallest violin considering her who her allies are and how she does nothing about her army's atrocities in her name aside from be frowny about it.

This was shortly after Ferd's paralogue btw where we learn that she is enslaving the population of the territories she "liberates"

The Church weren't even the loving ones who did the experiments on Edel, I don't know why her huge movement is to annihilate them and not do something about her uncle

I was super into Edel's route going into it but by the end I felt like I didn't really have a great idea of why she was doing the things she did. Like, I am not very far into Blue Lions and Dimitri already sounds like he'd be super down with trying to help abolish the nobility and do away with the Crest aritocracy. Edel's goals she tells us about don't match up with her backstory even a little bit
