We're sealing the tunnel!
I'm currently listening to Sea of Sorrows on Audible.
In the past month I've gone through the audio novelizations of:
Alien
Aliens
Alien 3
Alien Resurrection
Aliens: Cold Forge

Really makes my commute more bearable.

Same. I'm fairly certain I've read Nightmare Asylum at some point. Probably in junior high, I don't remember any detail but I distinctly remember thinking it was cool that the local library had Aliens novels.

I remember reading all three in the library at secondary school. Good books.

Had some relatively explicit sex scenes in them if I remember right.

I had some poo poo Aliens-related dream.

Recruited (more like conscripted) into some rag-tag platoon stitched together at the last moment to go and "fight the aliens". We were equipped with the absolute worst sort of jank-rear end gear, including (but not limited to) toy plastic helmets, weapons with broken/missing parts, tactical vests that were actually black-painted inflatable lifejackets (mine had the name "Bill Till" scribbled on the tag for whatever reason) and no loving trousers at all, so I had to march around the hangar wearing a long towel over some swimshorts.

The platoon leader was wearing a cheap plastic Spider-Man mask on the back of his head so the aliens wouldn't sneak up behind him (similar to the short-lived practice of doing the same thing to fool tigers into not attacking in India back in the 1980's).

Just as I started to complain about the quality of the poo poo we'd been handed out, the operation was cancelled and we were told to go home. I started ranting about "who the gently caress is microwaving boiled eggs" or something and woke up to the sound of traffic outside.
Vastly better story than Alien 3 or 4. Or Prometheus, Covenant, the AvP films, and several of those 40th anniversary short films.
gently caress Hollywood I want Goon written Alien sequels.

Hmm, that is a good movie, but not top tier like those 4. Maybe tier 3.

Tier 2:
Terminator 1&2
Total Recall
The Thing

Tier 3:
The Abyss
Lethal Weapon
Starship Troopers

The Man Who Never Missed was cool as gently caress, but the rest of the Matador series got into some very kinky and abusive sex in way, way too much detail. He toned his poo poo way down in his Alien novelizations,. Even for a series with a strong Geiger influence he could go much too far, and has.

To be dead honest I think it's been a lot more but it's hard to count "putting it on before I go to sleep" as a number. Feels like cheating.

If I counted that it might be in the 20s at the least.

Like Alien is to Aliens, The Terminator is a horror film while T2 is science fiction.

The Terminator has more tension & fear of Arnold coming after Sarah & Kyle. T2 has you wowed by the T-1000.

I usually prefer the action movie sequel like t2 and aliens were always my favorite out of their series but yeah t2 starts to feel goofy after a while

The police station scene in Terminator is just fantastic.

Robocop is the best one though, that is probably my favorite movie of any genre/decade

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Robocop 2 because it was the 1st R rated movie I saw in the theater. I begged my dad to see it & he finally relented. He dutifully watched it along with me & enjoyed it too. :kimchi:

For me the problem with T2 is the lack of tension. Everyone knows that Edward Furlong is not gonna get torn apart by an evil robot. Terminator is at heart a slasher movie where a woman alone is menaced by sinister, armed vagrants. It’s inspired by this post-Watergate stuff like Halloween or Assault on Precinct 13 where American society is collapsing and the murder of women and children by these chaotic forces is completely within the realm of possibility. It’s easy to envision a version of the movie where Sarah just ends up dead. T2 has a completely different worldview.

basically what im saying is, John Carpenter should have made T2

I would watch a whole bunch of versions of action films where the main character gets murdered in the first 15 minutes.

T2 but the T1000 gets the kid and the rest of the film is looking for a lookalike orphan to Be John Connor

Aliens but Ripley gets aliened right out of the gate and everyone runs around freaking out because they lost the specialist

Robocop but... OK that's already robocop

Die Hard but Bruce gets shot immediately and Reginald VelJohnson has to save the day.

Robocop but he doesn't get killed and the rest of the movie is Bob Morton chasing him around trying to stick the Robocop helmet on his head

Robocop, but Murphy doesn't get killed and the rest of the movie is the scene with prototype Robocops killing themselves from Robocop 2 stretched out to an hour and a half, each prototype killing itself and the people around it in increasingly outlandish ways.
