This LP has gotten a lot more interesting now that the Soviets are involved. Shame you can't teleport the troops back from India to fight the Soviets.

The absolute and utter beating the Soviets give your troops is absolutely hilarious. Almost two weeks of silence and then BAM, 40k japanese lost in a day.

That attack at Shikuka had just short of four soviet artillery guns for every japanese soldier present. I can only imagine this was some scouts seeing IJA troopse on a hill, the battalion CO enthusiastically calling in artillery on what should be their main line of resistance and then ordering an advance after the bombardement. Only to afterwards chew out his scouts because not only were there no IJA on the hill the battalion just took, the coordinates for the hill they gave him were a mile closer to their positions than the hill they actually took after crossing the craters from the artillery impacts. Also he bitches that the maps were wrong again and there was only one hill, not two.

   We lose a plane today!   They still find planes on the airfields to blow up.  Another base falls with heavy losses.   These guys seem to have become very efficient.  And I'm not liking it!  If they had done this a few years ago, I would have had more of a fight!   The Russians hit hard, but their advance will be slow.  Those marauders are tearing me a new one!

  We keep up the pressure.  It gets bloody over Rabaul.  We hold! It's only for a day, but it's the first time out forces have lasted this long against the soviets!  Air losses drop a bit today – and the carriers are restocking as we speak.

  In a surprising show of strength, the Allies sail a battleship into Rabul. Bth sides take losses and damage.  We take today's toll.   The Soviets brave our air space again – and get two hits on shipping!  Heavy fortifications allow us to give the Soviets a bloody nose today.  We can't hold everywhere though!  I have to say, I was not expecting the Queen Elizabeth!  Claiming the Sussex seems a but premature.

I mean, if it's just QE and a heavily damaged Sussex (plus small DD screen) it could work. QE's an early WW1-era battleship after all, so there's only so much modern gear you can effectively put on her hull. I'm also not entirely certain how much of a refit she got during the actual war, so if she's still mostly in her interwar configuration (plus whatever the US bolted on during their repairs) she's not exactly going to have the most effective AA battery around. If there's more out there that has also magically gone unspotted despite being right next to a major base, then all bets are off.

  Keep it up lads!  They turn and flee so quickly we can only shoot down one plane.  That's better!  There are still lots of random bombing runs in China, but you can see the effect, so I'm not going to report twenty raids of one plane being blown up.

  Yawn. Liberators.  I think these guys just flew around each other for a bit.  Another city falls to overwhelming Soviet forces. Another unmanned base also falls.  The Russians hit hard, but their movement is slow. There is a limit to how much land they can take.
