I’ve seen many a musician wandering around with a beer before a set but I think Daniel Myer is the only person I’ve ever seen carting around a little glass of red wine

Heh, cut.rate.box has been one of those bands that have been on my "to get" list for forever since I heard them on internet radio in 2004 or whatever, but I never encountered a way to get their stuff, even in the era of mp3 downloads.

New Gost album October 4 He's a little outside this thread's usual remit, but he's touring with 3TEETH and Author and Punisher and 2018's Posessor is probably the best album I've heard in a few years. If he's keeping up that blend of synthwave, doom and black metal, and 80s goth I'm extremely hype.

Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing them alongside 3TEETH and A&P in NYC next week.

a review copy of the new Velvet Acid Christ album "Ora Oblivionis" here, out August 9. it is sort of high-quality EBM background noise. it has a good beat and you could accidentally end up dancing to it. it doesn't have a memorable tune anywhere on it. literally the only song I can remember is "Cog", because Spotify kept throwing it up in my EBM Daily Mix. the vocals are mostly hissy whisper rather than singing, though that beats cookie-monster. i dunno. i'm willing to be convinced, but it'll take some convincing.

Posting from inside the NYC leg of the 3TEETH tour. GosT was fine, if not unengaging. A&P setting up now, I'm very excited to see his insane rig in action.

It's just as cool in motion as it looks in photos. Also Tristan is super nice if you get to chat with him. A couple friends who went said that the new stuff is better live, but based on the setlist I saw I was okay with missing out last night.

Yeah A&P was loving awesome. Really cool to watch him perform with that set-up. Very much a counterpoint to the old "live electronic music? those guys are just hitting play on their macbooks" trope. Didn't get a chance to talk to Tristan, but it seemed like he had a lot of friends supporting him in the audience. 3TEETH was great. Alexis has buff leather daddy Kevin Kline looks mixed with Jared Louche-esque audience report and it was just great. Finished off with President X in costume. Excellent show overall.

Did Gost play anything from the upcoming album?

I'm not familiar enough with them to say, and to be honest, they had some audio balance issues throughout their set that made it difficult to really distinguish much. They started off with some pseudo-thrash-metal stuff, transitioned to more dance-able synthy EBM stuff and then finished out with more aggressive metal stuff, if that helps.

Pope Guilty posted:Did Gost play anything from the upcoming album? Yeah, or at least some I didn't recognize, and if that was any indication, the new album is gonna bang. I didn't even know it was Gost at first, last time around he was solo and didn't do any vocals, so very different show this time. Author & Punisher was much better live than I expected. Just insanely heavy, and watching the guy gently caress around with his home-made synth setup was rad as hell. 3TEETH also owned.

Do any HEALTH fans in the thread know what happened to Jupiter Keyes? My assumption was he left the band to help out his girlfriend Alice Glass after Crystal Castles imploded, but the way the other three band members never want to talk about him makes me concerned.

This is kind of a weird ask, but I've been searching all over the place. Does anyone know of any middle eastern Electro-Industrial? I've found plenty of cool electronica and a fair amount of metal but no industrial yet.

There is a lot of his work but some parts of it could definitely be termed industrial in the more experimental sense. Unless you're already familiar and putting it in the electronica category... Edit: Sorry, misread. Muslimgauze is middle eastern themed/inspired electro-industrial. Not actually sure about middle-eastern electro industrial artists... Hatari did a collab with a Palestinian artist; It's called Klefi

I’m pretty involved in the Tampa goth scene and they’re super popular. Klefi has been getting a lot of play down here too, which is kind of why I wanted to try to find more groups from outside North America and Europe.

Today's review mp3 zipfile is Mortal Geometry by Numb - Don Gordon, doing his first album since 1998. It's ... pretty nice! I'm having trouble remembering a single tune when any song finishes, but the sound is really good and I'm playing it through for a third time. The album is out on 23 August, and there's a preview song on the Bandcamp.

Prior as in Age Of The Disposable Body? That was a masterpiece and I'm still listening to it a lot with Brexit still being a big thing and all. I did like the old aggro Grendel also with their typical thump but I definitely prefer where they've gone since.
