Winners league format (proleague format but winners stays on) would be cool. Any other format where both maru and stats are in the brackets has a very high chance of yielding maru vs stats sooner or later.

It’s dumb as hell that the premier match, stats v Maru, occurs in the first round. It’s like the organizers realized that there’s a 99% chance one of the two would win if they were in separate brackets, so they were matched up early to give other players a shot.

Besides, the two weakest games in the entire first round are HeroMarine vs Trap (  gabe), Fantasy vs Classic (though Fantasy has shown some super clever builds) and Time vs soO (can't wait for half of this thread to flip their poo poo when Time wins 3-1).Dark vs Elazer will likely be really volatile, but there's a clear favorite. Neeb vs Showtime will be extraordinarily good for a pvp, given that Showtime beat Stats 2-0 at ASUS, and that Neeb on form is a goddamn monster (and let's not forget that Neeb won his supertournament victory on the back of pvp). Special vs Reynor will be super spicy, as both players are in extremely good form at the moment. And if I need to explain why Serral vs TY will be fantastic, I question your fandom.  Hot take: Maru vs Stats will be a boring series. Maru may proxy one or two games. Stats might play non-standard for one game. When he isn't doing a proxy, Maru will go for tank timing pushes. He might play mech in one map, but I kind of doubt it. ed: The last day of the tournament will have the Finals as well as a GSL vs the World proleague style series. Heromarine has honestly been playing pretty lights out lately to the extent that he actually has a chance. Unfortunately for him, Trap has been punching way above his weight class lately, too. Imo the brackets actually look pretty good for giving us some really good games. Maru vs Stats should be really good, Serral vs TY is like the two great minds of sc2 meeting up, Special vs Reynor should be a loving barn burner especially with how good tvz is right now and both of them being gods of multiprong harass. If you like tvz at all, this tourney is going to loving own in the first round. Who will advance is probably more up in the air this year than any year previously. Every match looks winnable for either player, which is really rare. I'm also oddly excited to see how Soo and Time's game goes: soo has been in pretty decent form lately and Time has been getting better and better and while tvz used to be his weakest matchup, he apparently grinded out a fuckton of practice games with scarlett to the point where he's shown some really respectable tvz lately. Although this would definitely have happened for large periods of SC2's life, I doubt it would've happened now, but I suppose that might be the motive.
