There was an adult webcomic in the early 2000s that was very stylized and colorful. All of the characters had exaggerated features and I seem to remember sort of anthropomorphic poodle-like features as well. Would probably appeal to the same crowd Ay Papi or Sexy Losers.

I remember a story from easily 15+ years ago, something that would now be called creepypasta, where a guy was writing about how he was being tormented by a group of people who had all sorts of sophisticated high frequency audio equipment, where they could make these sounds appear in his house but they could also monitor everything being said in his house so he couldn't call the cops or anything. He supposedly didn't know who these people were or what they wanted, just that they were targeting him for some reason Anyone have any idea?

There was a punk rock zine back in the day that had a comic strip called Ferret that was a punk ferret character going to shows and making fun of scenesters iirc. I can’t remember the name of the artist or the name of the magazine. Google only turns up lovely web comics and lovely furry crap of course. This comic strip I’m looking for is also lovely but in a 80s hand drawn punk way. I vaguely remember liking the drawing style and it being sort of funny. I only saw it a couple times. I just want to confirm that the actual thing is as cool as my foggy memory of it. As a side note, it is interesting to me how memories are preserved over time. There’s sometimes that moment when you first rediscover some obscure thing you hadn’t seen or thought about in years. Before you found it you would not be able to recall certain details about it, but as soon as you actually lay eyes on it, it’s somehow exactly as crappy as you remember, and you go “yep, that’s all that was”.

Around 2003 or 2004 I pirated some software and I really liked the music for the keygen. I was able to find it (because the keygen extracted the .mod to a temp folder for playback) but lost it some years ago in a hard drive crash. I'd know it if I heard it again, and the only other clue I remember was the file was named rawks.mod. Edit: Just thought of another one. Maybe 25 years ago or so. I remember a show that had an educational thing to it. I don't know if this was the whole show or just a segment, but I remember live action male and female detective, kind of like Mulder and Scully, discussing the lengths and angles of triangles. The episode ends with "to be continued," but I thought it said "too complicated." My mom, who must've been watching with me, corrected me. This has been stuck in the murky recesses of memory for a long time. Neurion fucked around with this message at 22:34 on Aug 17, 2019 |

Here's one. The first (and only) season of "Thunder in Paradise". I will pay for it. It looks like it was only released in Germany (unsure if it has English audio) seeing as the only episodes I can find on youtube are German dubbed. I have the three "movies" but the season of TV, man I just want to laugh at Hulk Hogan and shake my head at the spawn of Jack Lemmon. Oh, and see how many WCW wrestlers I can spot.

There's a certain smell that I experienced in my youth, and I sometimes dream about it. It's the perfume my first girlfriend used to wear. In truth, I don't know whether it's even that specific smell per se; maybe I'm reconstructing an imperfect copy of an imperfectly stored memory and what I'm remembering never actually existed, if that makes sense. Every once in a while, maybe once a year or less, I'll pass someone and for one second, smell something that's vaguely similar, albeit not quite. It'll feel like a punch to the gut. What I see in front of me is drowned out by a vision of the flowers in front of the house where I used to live, the sensation of taking someone's hand, sunshine on skin, a strange mixture of anxiety and expectation, and then in a heartbeat, I'm thrown out of it again. Like the smell, I don't know whether that even existed that way. But it's a moment a piece of me desperately wants relive, maybe just to understand what it actually all meant.

I got something similar, and it was the smell of my dad's study. When our family had its first computer it was kept there, and I played DOS games and did some homework on that machine. The room had this rich smell of old paper and book bindings, as he kept a lot of old documents and books he didn't read in there. We don't use that room anymore, and a lot of the stuff that was in there has been thrown out, but sometimes I catch the old scent again and the nostalgia and childhood memories come flooding back.

There was a game I played briefly called 10^6. It took place in a future where corporations were settling the moon. There were 4 corporations that you could choose from. You would build a little fort on the planet and there was a PVP component to it as well. I think it was on AOL or HEAT. One of the two. It was called 10^6 because that was how much square footage was in the game. Does anyone else know 1) if this game is still going? 2) anything at all about this game?

In the early-to-mid-90s, I remember seeing part of something on TV that scared me. It was a TV show or movie, and there was something like a ghost trying to escape from being sealed inside a cistern or water tank. It banged on the metal door of it. Later on, it succeeded, and it killed someone it possessed by basically forcing them to get hit by a subway train. It was at my grandparents, so it likely would have aired on broadcast television (or maybe cable, but nothing exotic like HBO). The weird thing is, years later, I think I saw part of it again in a segment of a show that was discussing TV pilots that ended up being aired as telemovies instead of going to series. I’ve posted about it before in other “lost things” threads, but no luck so far.

years ago in like the early-mid 90s there was a commercial for (i think) like some 8 cds for a penny club things, or some other poo poo i dont really know what it was for (i think it was some music-related thing though) anyway one thing in the commercial was a woman dressed in like a 1980s style, like kelly in very early married with children episodes; big hair, etc. she was standing up against a like a brick wall and loudly chewing gum and then goes "it's like, ya know, whateverrrr" my sister and i used to say this to each other all the time, and sometimes still do, but no idea what the commercial was for, so its not really easy to google. (i know lisa says the same thing in a simpsons episode but seriously it's not that)

Teketeketeketeke posted:1. Book - I read this around 1996-7, so it's likely from 80s or 90s. Sort of YA/middle-grades fiction, with a Gothic setting. It's very Bellairs, in fact. A brother and sister (orphans, IIRC) are sent to live with their EVIL uncle/aunt in some sort of big dreary mansion. They basically are worked to the bone by their evil relatives (boy does yardwork, etc.; girl is basically a housemaid), and one depressing detail I was that when it was FINALLY Christmas/birthday or something, the boy receives a pair of work gloves as his only gift. They were actually sort of welcome, because his hands were torn to poo poo by then anyway. The boy's chambers have a super-creepy wash basin with scenes of a Napoleonic era battle--horrible dying horses, etc.--on it, and one day he becomes so sick of looking at it that he turns over the basin, uncovering a secret passage. Orphans living with an evil uncle sounds like A Series of Unfortunate Events
