This is just an episode of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee". Except nothing about the episode is funny in any conceivable way. Just like all episodes of CiCGC

When I studied economy the teacher explained that the real "genius" behind IKEA is that people don't want furniture that lasts for 120 years. They want an excuse to get new stuff every now and then.

I like Ikea because I spent my entire adult life so far as a gig economy vagrant and need things that are not only affordable but also easy to dismantle and drive across the province or to a new province affordably.

You've successfully taken apart, moved and then reassembled IKEA furniture? What loving black magic is that?

Don't even need to keep the manuals since they're all online And if you lose or break a bit (who keeps the extras!?) they'll send you free replacements!

We had some 'Billy' bookcases that are ready to die after being taken apart and re built about 4 or 5 times. They're not coming with us on the next move.

True, I also have Bïllys and they do hold up way better than say, a bed. I keep waiting for ours to collapse after I rebuilt it and ended up with a couple of "spare parts"... From best to worst it's probably bookshelves-tables-chairs-beds. The more complex it is certainly adds to how much things can go wrong. E: I hope this doesn't derail the good tweets thread and if so my apologies in advance and all hail Swedenborg. jojoinnit has a new favorite as of 10:23 on Aug 25, 2019 |
