Mors Rattus posted:yeah the Ventrue Primogen being like 'actually Ventrue are not republicans' is loving hilariously dumb On the one hand, I can see how centuries-old vampires may not be fond of wrecking the planet with human-induced climate change. Especially if it means waking up under several hundred feet of water once torpor ends. Not to say that Democrats aren't on oil's payroll as well, but Republicans and Libertarians are the greater evils in this regard. On the other hand, everything else about the GOP is pretty much set up to appeal to a regressive monster borne out of the Medieval era.

I mean Ventrue, like any entrenched vampire, support systems of power that a) they understand, b) can manipulate and c) tend to favor the few over the many. They may or may not be ideologues. They definately aren't 'Republicans' in a way we'd understand it. If anything, it's more that Republicans support the same sorts of systems that the Ventrue do and for many of the same reasons but they aren't identical.

The Ventrue would absolutely do all the poo poo the Kochs did and do, although of course an individual Ventrue will not necessarily be in that particular loop. Good sass on that blueblood at least.

^^^ Thanks. I am a PC for the first time in ages and my fiance is running her first game. One of the other players is going to be a PT Barnum-styled Daeva. The other has only played a little DND so she just wants to smash stuff. She'll likely go Gangrel. I was going to go stealth/Animalism Gangrel but now I'm thinking Nos. Maybe, MAYBE Ventrue. Well all be embraced in session 1 and I'll be playing a 16-year old. Maybe 18. I like the idea of the world largely involving bars and clubs and my little idiot might have to get a fake ID.

The Nos book is one of the best but also (by design) laid out in a nearly random way, at least for the in character fiction. The table of contents is a map.
