"Tell that to Zod's snapped neck!"

i would like to preface this post with "i know the VMAs are less than worthless, especially when it comes to hip-hop"

but since it's in Jersey this year they ended with a collection of old-school rappers who have connections to Jersey, which means that a crowd full of teenagers/college students closed out their show celebrating music in 2019 with:

Ice-T
Naughty by Nature
Redman
Wyclef Jean
Queen Latifah
Fetty Wap

literally one of these people has not been in the industry longer than most of that audience has been on this earth

hands down my favourite tune of the year so far is this amazing track off the album i won't shut up about - bartier bounty. sada baby can sing, and he puts it to use switching up the flows and delivering fun, funny lines and embodying everything i like about his style.

edit; i heard juice at the beginning of the year and it might be one of my top 5 most listened to songs of the year. it's kinda weird that a different song was the one that blew up but that doesn't make juice any worse.

Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's Jimmy T.
Instead of talking about Lizzo, can we discuss the new Rapsody album and how dope it is? I really liked the first single (huge Liquid Swords fan) so I thought I would like the album, but it surpassed my expectations. The concept, themes, bars, and production are all top-notch and it is definitely one I need to digest over many listens. Favorite tracks right now are Nina, Cleo, Sojourner, and Ibithaj.

I like that song at least, and it has Missy Elliott.

Wish Thugger patched all these awful beats out of the album instead of adding Machine Gun Kelly. It falls into the same category as the majority of his projects for me, where a few tracks really shine and I forget the rest.

Does anyone have some good hip-hop albums/playlists I can put on the office stereo? Doesn't have to be milquetoast NPR rap, just something that's not too distracting.

not necessarily milquetoast, but not too distracting? errr drake released this seriously generic 50 track album a couple of years ago called scorpion or something that probably fits the bill

if you're looking for actually good rap though this thread has a playlist that someone from this thread created and it's really solid https://open.spotify.com/playlist/19weaG5eC104XuOsYP6IoB
