The thing is that the show mixes up its formula enough to keep things fresh even in the rote episodes. People frequently end up in properties nothing like what they said they wanted at the beginning and loving them.

I jumped on the MiniDisc train in 2000 I think I bought a new car and had a minidisc 6 disc changer installed in it, and bought a Denon minidisc recorder/player for the AV stack and also a portable minidisc player Here’s an artifact of the 1980s that I doubt many people have encountered

I will guess that you rub that on your uh items to remove dusts. Maybe vinyl, maybe something weird like a screen or those videodisks or some poo poo. I think prob vinyl but don't know what's 80s about it. Gonna guess you rub it in one direction and don't go against the grain either

I collect old hifi and stereo stuff. I've got tons of Walkman, tape decks, CD players, minidisc stuff etc etc etc. Since I now live alone, I decided to class up the kitchen a bit.

Oh poo poo it's a lint roller, has one-way fibers...doesnt work well at all compared to the sticky tape ones, but it's reusable. err...oh it's for records...well they have some old style lint brushes like that too

Kanine posted:wait isnt it usually a really bad idea to put metal in a microwave? or is the coating somehow making it ok? I'm pretty sure that metal in the microwave isn't the problem, especially since the "oven" section is made of metal. The problem is the gaps between metals allow for arcing (the lightning) to happen. In the end metal in the microwave is just frowned upon because the average person isn't an electrical engineer who could predict what would and would not cause arcing.

There's some way that you can put metals in a microwave without it being a problem...something about insulating them properly...dunno exactly. Watched a guy loosen some bearings by wrapping them in wet cloth and microwaving them and it was fine...also seen some types of microwaves that have a metal rack that lives in there...it's probably voodoo.

Jerry Cotton posted:Except in the 80s people were using carbon fibre brushes. Only old people had those things. Eh, they're kind of separate things. The carbon fiber brush is to remove surface particles and reduce static. The RCA Discwasher and knockoffs had a bottle of cleaning fluid (that's what the hole in the handle is for) that you squirt on the brush to get deeper in the grooves. Today I use a carbon fiber brush on most records I play, and only use my velvet brush with fluid on the dirtiest records. edit: although I'm sure lots of people use that thing dry, and in that case it wouldn't do any more than a carbon fiber brush would.

As somebody who accidentally left a screw inside one before I demo'd it for a customer at a Habitat For Humanity store, yeah, just keep metal out of microwaves.

I think the instructions for my microwave say that if I'm heating water in it, I should rest a spoon in the container so it doesn't do that thing where it suddenly explosively boils when you disturb it. Apparently this is really important because there's an illustration of this inside the door. I've never tried it, I just use a kettle. No, not in the microwave.

I've had a ton of B&O stuff, it always sounds good since the electronics inside them are typically top-shelf stuff from Philips or Panasonic. When they are new you pay a huge premium for the Danish design, but preowned you can get amazing deals. This system would probably have been $3,000 new in 90s money. I paid $50 for it since nobody plays CDs any more, and FM radio here has been replaced by DAB+.

It's really only an issue if you put pure water in there. Strangely enough, pure water doesn't like to boil, but it boils very rapidly if you introduce some sort of contaminant (like a spoon or w/e)

Never forget Zunepocalypse on December 31, 2008. When every Zune suddenly bricked itself for 24 hours. I was there, dead Zune in hand. I forgot to check if the bug resurfaced in 2012 or 2016. It was a leap year thing.

I was heating a glass measuring cup with 2.5 cups of water and when I went to grab it, I bumped it a bit before grasping the handle and boiling water erupted everywhere - all inside microwave and on the counter, but I avoided getting scalded. Helped clean the microwave a little, at least.

I did have alot of fun hooking up 8 BeoLab 5 speakers together in a chain and blasting some Slayer in the warehouse that was close to £60'000 worth of speaker's and jesus christ was it loud.
