Have this feeling that Allison is going to lose the Key of Kings, which will spur her toward learning Sword Law. Or she'll lose the tournement, which will cause some kinda significant consequence, once again leading her toward Maya. Heck, she may lose the key and then join the 108. Only she'll be their leader instead of their prey.

Of course my suggestion that people not make predictions has led to a bunch of joke predictions that has now led to real, earnest predictions.

She never actually had the key because the voice of god isn’t something you can HAVE, It’s something you can only DO by means of furious + dumbass royalty. The shiny thing in her brow is just a placebo.

Also I might be in the minority here but I really do appreciate the effort put into the intricate backgrounds of books 1 and 2. Its sad that moving to the red wash now and then was something that had to happen to maintain the fickle patreon crowd.

They exist in the earlier books too, though often with a colour gradient or other small flourishes. I picked this chapter at random and it has loads of simple backgrounds. They work just fine when they're similar to the actual backgrounds or conveying mood (like the current page). The same can't be said for the garish red ones, they stick out too much.

I actually quite like the red background panels. They fit this book's shounen vibe pretty well.

yeah, the red panels are pretty great in my opinion. in the earlier books the amazingly intricate and detailed backgrounds are great most of the time, but I found they also made the fights pretty hard to follow. In the earlier books this was actually kind of a good thing because a) Allison didn't really know what was going on and presumably couldn't follow the fights in detail either and b) large amounts of said fights were important to the story in general but weren't directly consequential to the immediate plot. Like, say, The Pursuers vs. Mottom's Guards vs. 6 Juggernaut Star in book 2 - the result could have significant implications down the line, but in the moment all that matters to Allison is that she gets out alive. in this book, on the other hand, "does Allison win this fight and if so, how does it go down?" is a primary question that the visual storytelling is attempting to answer, so it needs to be clear about it, and Allison knows a bunch of fighting arts poo poo so the reader of the comic gets a clearer picture of the action in the same way that she does. also they make certain scenes look sick as hell and it's not as if the book has been skimping on beautiful backgrounds in the non-splash panels.

I was reading back through the ballroom battle in Mottom's palace, and I found the scene where Auntie Maya takes on 6 Juggernaut Star more meaningful in light of her recent flashback/lesson. Starting from this page should be good. Maya has introduced herself to Allison, who is now fleeing with White Chain. https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/wielder-of-names-6-110/
