Also most roller coasters handle over 1500 people per hour, so 500 people only adds 15-20 minutes, which is an inconvenience for sure but isn't going to ruin your whole day out.

Anyway, here's more content..

Love that the intended takeaway from this is 'we gotta treat prisoners worse because they got it too good' and not 'holy poo poo our aged care system is hosed and we need to improve it'

If the elderly desire prison so much, it's pretty easy for them to commit one of the many victimless crimes that we've got on the books, then call the judge an rear end in a top hat when they ask if they've learned their lesson.

Nobody seems to propose that though.

People deliberately committing crimes to go to jail as that ends up being better than their current life is in fact a thing that happens.

Yeah but those are often cases resulting from lovely systems in place to care for the welfare of the homeless, people who have escaped abusive environments, etc. and it's an indictment of that more than anything else.

Meemaw Memer complaining that those thugs get it better than the vast bulk of the elderly and prison is too soft now isn't about to do that to find out.

I feel like that monument might be better if it took advantage of forced perspective, maybe there's one spot designated where if you look at it, it really does look like they're going off into infinity, and maybe on memorial day it lines up with the sun or something, so they're marching right into a fiery inferno.

It uses the pound sign, so it's (probably) not even talking about the American elderly care system/prison system. Which are both probably in the bottom 10 care wise.

And yet it complains that prisoners get free medication, when so does everybody 60 and over in the UK, so it's probably from the greater online sphere of right wing rage that crosses borders several times (without a visa :freep:) and uncritically picks up right wing talking points from multiple places.

There's just so many people who believe "happiness" is a finite resource that must be hoarded and doled out and managed. You can't raise the overall happiness level of someone else unless you lower it for someone else. Misery is inevitable, your job is to direct it towards someone else before it sees you.
The company that made everyone's salary $70,000 a year, minimum, had people quit and take pay cuts at other companies because they were so mad the janitors were getting paid the same as them.

You think reality is a circle of salt around my brain keeping witches out?
It isn't via email, but I think this is the proper place to share it. I went to a meeting with a client today, a janitorial service. The president of the company was the only one on the office, and he was on the phone with someone, obviously frustrated. When he hung up the phone, his first words to me were, "Hi, okay, I need to ask you to vote Republican, because I've been trying to track people down ALL DAY, they just don't want to work!"

I was kind of taken aback and didn't really say anything in response, but glancing around the room, it was filled with Trump merch, because of course.

Like... how would Republicans being in power make his workers more punctual? Does he think that Trump has the magical ability to force people to work through his sheer force of will? Does he think that Democrats taking the House last year means that everyone is just lazy now? Aaaagh :psypop:

There are literally dozens of people who want to work for $7 an hour and no benefits, but their principles are too strong to allow them to work for a living wage. They won't return his calls from a sense of belief in the free market.
