It sounds like a Fallout Vault. like most rent-seeking "sharing" startups, a key element in their investor storytime is talking about the community and the social opportunities they offer when they explain it to investors, they say it's not a "flophouse" or an "overpriced hostel", but rather a "co-living space". a place where people go not for the cheap accomodations but for the social and community aspects, and which also doubles as a co-working space it also doubles as a cheap excuse for why pretty much everything but the beds are shared. communal bathrooms, communal kitchen, communal toiletries - it's less private than an old college dorm. in fact, I'm pretty sure they go out of their way to market to college students who are used to that kind of treatment. their downtown LA location has 16 beds, but only two toilet stalls and two showers, so you'll get plenty of community there!

Even going for a 6 person per unit room in the asbestos building made in 1960 would set you back ~9k + a ~3k minimum mandatory food plan for 9 months. And this is at a state university. (Admittedly the best one with the coolest graduates.) DragQueenofAngmar posted:oh, that part, yeah maybe you can get some traction Your checking account shouldn't be overdrawn from checks you authorized tho. If they don't cash the check it should still be a liability on your books and then accounted for. And if they don't cash it in a reasonable time you should create a paper trail documenting it in case they try to pull shenanigans like saying you are late on rent. Also if you are smart about it they never have to know it was you. A while back I had a landlord that didn't offer recycling even though Minneapolis ordinances say they must. He was being a dick about numerous things so I reported him to the city and 2 weeks later he had recycling offered. He felt safe enough with me to bitch about it and as far as he knew the city just did a random inspection and ugh aren't these tyrants something else! Entire time I'm laughing like a maniac on the inside.
