I was looking through the Japanese Eshop and noticed that City Connection are publishing the Psikyo ports now too, or at least Strikers 1999. They seem to be branching out lately.

edit: It's because CC bought Zerodiv up in March this year. They're the publisher on all of those games now.

City Connection (the company behind Psyvariar Delta, Game Tengoku Cruisinmix, etc) announced a Deathsmiles 1 & 2 collection for multiple platforms, they didn't say which one but PS4/Switch/PC is the safe bet. They stressed it as the first Cave collaboration, so there's at least one more coming.

Cool. I'm not a huge fan of Deathsmiles, though. Would be nice to have Futari or SDOJ on PC at some point!

On that note, anything from Tatsujin Co. regarding Toaplan IPs?

Wow, the effects are incredibly stylish. I've never played Final on PS2 so I don't know how it compares, though.

The 3D looks really nice, but I think the death explosions are just slightly too visually busy, especially those where the explosion looks like lightning? Maybe it looks more readable when you're actually playing.

Aww poo poo, I wanted to post this. :(

I just got to read through my emails today and found a message from the devs that they started a new round of funding because so many people had trouble to pay for the Kickstarter (either due to time or like in my case, because my bank refused Kickstarter as "too shady").

Now I finally got to back them! Thanks PayPal, you're a better Pal then my bank!

I’m used to the six button Sega layout...probably cause I have an Astro City :v:. I use the top three buttons, and bottom left if there’s a 4th button. My cab originally came with a three button panel using the bottom left and top/left two...I wasn’t a fan of that layout. I’ve heard some people prefer the second player Sega layout (I think the angle is different) so that might be another one to try.

For my console sticks I used 24mm buttons, basically just shrink whatever normal layout to 80% (but keep stick-button distance the same). One I made myself and used Sega, another I bought off AllFightSticks where they used to use "stickless" layout (but with a stick). Anyway I like 24mm buttons cause it feels a lot more relaxed/natural in terms of finger spread personally. Plus I like having small sticks so minimization wise I kinda gotta go with 24mm. Shameless Twitter plug/pretty pic: here's my AFS one.

Last little side note, I use JLFs but mod them a little, with octogate and Kowal actuator. The latter tightens the throw and feel a bit, particularly important with the octogate cause that opens things up too much for my tastes.

Which actuator did you get for your JLF? I already have an octogate in my parts bin, so it might be worth trying that first before going whole hog on a specialized stick build.

And that stick is adorable! If I didn't already get a box for a stick build I'd seriously consider going that route, although if simply modding the actuator in my existing stick works I might not bother with a shmup build at all.

Reading your original post, not sure it’d change it enough for you so I dunno, depends on the specifics of why you want to change. Maybe try the octo by itself first to see if you even like that for shmups.

Anybody have any thoughts on [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/833950/Risk_System/]Risk System[url]? I checked the last couple of pages, but didn't find anything.

Basically, it's a gorgeous horizontal SHMUP made by one man. The system gimmick is staying close to bullets for MORE POWER, from what I can gather.

Darius Cozmic Collection's getting a limited overseas release for both Switch and PS4, orders start November 24: https://store.strictlylimitedgames.com/collections/all

Unlike the Japanese version, which had a standard version with just the arcade games and a limited-edition versions with the console games tacked on, they're selling the arcade and console games as two different collections, with the big collector's set including both. The console collection has some extra games over the Japanese versions, albeit mostly just overseas ROMs for particular ports.

So oddly this is a game that we can't purchase digitally in NA right? So somehow these are NA region of those Darius games but physical only if I get this right?

Have M2 ever said anything more about bringing more of their games to Steam/PC? I believe the last time they talked about it, they said they could never get the games running up to their standards, but that always seemed like a half-assed answer when the real reason was probably we don't have employees with the skillset to bring these games to PC or we don't feel spending the time to get them to PC is a good business decision.

That's just baseless speculation on my part, but I don't understand how a developer with M2's pedigree can't get decades old arcade games running well on a PC in the year 2020 outside of a lack of resources.

IIRC they said it was a performance issue specifically with Windows 10. I'm going to pull a guess out of my hat and say that likely means the emulator and other bits of code they use would need a complete re-write.

Their president is very particular about input lag and he says the tricks they use to reduce lag on other versions of Windows don't work as well on Windows 10, so they don't want to release anything on PC until those issues are addressed.

I do think you're right and that it's probably more a logistical thing than anything else, and if they can only handle a couple of platforms at once then PS4/Switch is probably where the money's at. It's not as if they have absolutely no experience on PC, they've done recent stuff for Konami, they did that fighting game Koihime Enbu (which I think still has the least input lag of any modern fighting game), etc.

I wasn't keen on Jamestown+ being a paid patch, but after 4-5 hours of play time it doesn't cross my mind anymore.

Rebinding the buttons to work on my 360 fight stick works now, as well as having two players via my Ipac2 keyboard encoder. The latter of which I've only tried using when both button sets are configured to input as gamepads.

Oh, and there's the new levels and ships I guess.
