Then in the remakes they made the centerpiece of the region a giant gently caress-off shopping mall in the middle of nowhere

Sure but also you can just switch if your opponent is likely going to use it to something that resists it and get a free turn since you can switch when you're recharging. Or even switch to a mon you don't care about and then sending out a setup mon and potentially winning then and there There's a reason even slaking doesn't use giga impact most of the time, because the locked in turn just loses games a lot of the time
