Too bad this doesn’t work with the app?

Anyone know if it will be added, or not because it was a freebie?

It lets you look for ghosts in your sets or something. It does some AR stuff.

The app scans the set and then uses AR to extend the "landscape" of the set, adds animated characters to the environment and turns the set into a shooting gallery you play with your phone.

I have to admit, looking at a timelapse build/review of the new ISD...I'm more unimpressed. I think I'd have liked it more if they'd varied the *tones* of gray a bit to give the ship a bit more menacing look. Some darker grays in places would've done that - but as it stands, it's just all flat "Lego Gray." Pass...especially at what they want for it.

The imperial star destroyer is nothing but light grey, so they can't really do much about that.

"Fresh out of the yard," yes. But there's something to be said for an armor panel here and there being a little darker to give it that 'battle-worn' look that would've made it noticeably different from the original UCS ISD.

Something like this, for instance:

They could have at least done lights or something.

I think Lego will get into light kits at some point in the not too distant future.

I managed NOT to buy the ISD after looking at it.. its huge. I wanted to though, but I already spent too much on other lego over the last few weeks :/

Next spring I'll get it, and build a display case for it.

After watching some reviews I really want it. It'll probably be at least a year before I'm willing to spend that much on a set though.

This summer I got back into Legos nearly two decades after having them thrown out. Got Voltron on a whim, along with a free coin operated rocket ride, and then my sisters surprised me with James Bond’s Aston Martin for my birthday. So it’s kind of awakened something in me. I want something smallish but still complicated enough that it’ll take time to build, that I can maybe fiddle with on my desk, so maybe Overwatch’s Bastion. Any other suggestions?

FBS posted:

I'm going to ignore your stated request and instruct you to get the Saturn V, which is still the best build I've experienced since coming back to Lego as an adult.

If you stand it vertically I'm sure you can make space for it on your desk :v:

I took all your advice into account a few weeks ago and forgot to tell you about the choice I made. Turns out you were actually kind of right :v:

Still, I think this jagged little guy fits a bit better.

Shelf space in my room comes at a major premium, so if I had to get one Star Wars ship what do you guys think would be good? UCS Y-Wing is an obvious choice for being available in the online store, fancy, and not having extra minifigs that won’t fit on the ship. The new Slave 1 is cool and is in a few nearby grocery stores, but has a few extra minifigs to keep track of and doesn’t seem to have a stand that’ll let me display it in a flying position. I might wait for a special occasion and splurge on the Death Star.

Edit: I thought Tantive IV would also leave me with loose minifigs like Slave 1, but taking a closer look at its store page I see you can open it up and put them inside.

As far as still in production sets go, the Y Wing is a good choice as is the X-Wing and the Tantive IV. All great sets. I am also a huge fan of the Snowspeeder which just went oop but is still available for around MSRP if you look around.

Tantive IV is a little annoying because there are bits that tend to fall off it and it doesn’t have a stand, but it does look cool.

I’d second the x wing or Snowspeeder. The y wing is cool and a good build but also it’s a y wing, do you want that to be your ONE Star Wars ship?

Looks like some overwatch sets are 40% off at some Kohl's stores.

The Ninjago City and Dock playset discounts are on Amazon today, I guess they price matched targets. $239.99 for the city, 189 for docks I think. If they are still discounted at the end of the month I'll pick them up but its unlikely, th Ninjago city is showing up as a 2-3 week delivery from Amazon already...
