People who take pride some kind of perverse pride in peeing in the pool. I can’t account for the years where I was literally a toddler, but I have no memory of ever peeing in the pool. I’ve lived in a house with a pool since 1993 and have NEVER peed in it. gently caress you, don’t even joke about peeing in my pool, or even your pool while I’m present, neighbor kid I grew up with. It’s a communal space. How’d you like it if I come to your house and pee in your living room? What, it’s not like there’s a chance it’ll drift over to you. HURF DURF IT’S STERILE DURRRR. loving animals. Go to hell.

I hate cognitivism. I hate when a complex phenomenon is reduced to that stupid loving input-output model. Cognitivism is designed to reduce human beings (especially schoolkids) to quantifiable output. Cognitivist academics are usually the kind that love Ted talks, pseuds and scumbags with no real curiosity.

My Steam still has the list and grid views, but doesn't look like that. Are they rolling out different clients to different countries or something?

You can opt into the new library beta. It's still optional, under "beta programs" in steam settings. That's the new library, not mandatory yet.

Literally everything I want to see is in that tiny section on the left. That used to take up the whole screen and the text was big enough to read from the other side of the room, even on my broken old TV. Now most of the screen is completely wasted space. And you can't even double-click the icon to run the game because that just takes you to another useless page with the actual "play" button on it.

the stdh.txt thread is my pet peeve since almost close to 100% of the time everyone will go along laughing at the unbelievable posts until it's something they personally want to believe is true because it makes them feel good or re-enforces their worldview and then they have to pipe up about how 'actually that could possibly happen' when in a world of infinite possibilities pretty much anything could 'possibly' happen making the premise of the thread null and void

Similar to this, my peeve is when I look something up (not usually advice, more like how-to-do-this or how-to-fix-this stuff), the results are invaribly not helpful. 80% of the time it's folks asking about the same problem, 10% of the time is stuff like "I fixed my router by changing my video drivers, hope this helps", and 10% just don't have a hey-heres-how-I-fixed-it-in-the-end resolution anyway. Double peeve when the solution is simple as poo poo, like restarting whatever the Problem Thing is. Like, I know a little about computers, surely the "did you try restarting it?" thing is a cliche I don't need to oops its fixed

My pet peeve is that there’s no really good word in English that is second person singular and conveys the same politeness as “sir” or “ma’am” - I work in a call center and it seriously drives me nuts. I don’t want to use either of those as several folks I talk to each day identify as nonbinary, but referring to someone several times during a call as “you” seems unprofessional. I wish that I could use handy terms like ya’ll, all ya’ll, chef, coach, etc. like I do outside of work. I come from hillperson stock too so it’s not like those terms aren’t in my usual vocabulary.

Podcasts that put an entire episode(s) of the creator's other podcast(s) in their feed. That's great you have another podcast and that's how you make money, but I'd rather not listen to a different podcast when I see that the one I already subscribe to has a new episode. All the podcasts that successfully get me to subscribe treat it like sample day at Costco. Give me 5-10 minutes to pique my interest without committing to 45 minutes of something that'll cause me to bitch about it on a dead gay comedy forum.

The only one that does it well, IMO, is 99% Invisible. Sometimes another creator has, like, a parallel track podcast and they come out with an EP that's *perfect* for 99PI, so they do a collaboration with Roman and both feeds release the same episode as a special feature. They never feel out of place, and it's always common hosts and audio style. I've expanded into a few podcasts that way (shout-out to The Allusionist).

I hate Current Events People on facebook or other websites like that. Like people who just post links to mundane articles on news websites that everyone already knows about, like "greta thunberg talked at the un", "boris johnson lost a lawsuit", with no comment of their own except "oh, this is good" or a smiley face, never even an analysis from some other more in-depth website or anything, just run of the mill boring news poo poo three times a day.

Or when people post on facebook those dumb quizzes like 'what does your favorite color say about you', 'what will you look like when you are old', 'what animal are you', 'who is your best drinking buddy'. They are supposed to be generalized anyway but those people treat it like omg this quiz KNOWS me haha. No, it does not.

Its possible this guy was lazy, but there have been countless times when I did delivery for grubhub where they didn't transfer a full address and/or full name to the order slip. Narrow residential streets that are always lined with cars, so if two cars coming from opposite directions approach each other, there is a brief mexican standoff of who is going to pull over to the curb to let the other pass first.
