I've been on board with Emery the whole time but yeah he seems to be more loving stubborn than Wenger was in many ways. It's painful to watch how inept some of the decisions are now, and the beautiful flowing footballs is mostly dead. Without Aubameyang Arsenal would struggle to win most games.

No one else needed a forward as badly at the time or had eyes on other big names and he was making a stink at Dortmund to leave. It wasn't exactly a small fee either and most teams had already blown their loads on other players. The deal was partially funded if you recall on Giroud going to Chelsea, they purchased him as an alternative to their high priced striker Morata who didn't work out obviously.
