Has anyone ever revealed what happened to the dog who portrayed Pepper, Al Snow's dog? Do I not want to ask this question considering what usually happened to wrestling pets? How about Matilda, the dog mascot of the Bulldogs? I hope they got to be the pet dog of the wrestler's kids. :ohdear:

I’ve read Bret’s book so I feel like I would have remembered it, but that book is such a poo poo show of Hart family shittiness that it’s hard to remember everything

Sounds like something from Martha Hart's book possibly, too

Searching the text of Martha/Bruce/Bret Hart's books, none of them mention the Bulldogs shooting Matilda up with steroids, or really anything much about Matilda in general.

Somehow the only primary source for this story that I can find is Tito Santana just offering it up unprompted on the Chris Gethard Show, somehow.

Update/Clarification:

Diana Hart (Davey Boy Smith's ex-wife, Bret/Owen/etc.'s sister) wrote the book Under the Mat in 2002, which basically everyone else in the family claimed was full of lies up to and including having an intro written by the late Stu Hart that most of the family doesn't believe he wrote. This is the book that was pulled from the shelves and Diana apologized for it and etc.

Martha Hart (Owen's widow) wrote Broken Harts in 2004, which is also pretty tough on Davey Boy, Dynamite Kid, and the wrestling business in general, but didn't get pulled from the shelves and no one threatened to sue her over it.

I had these books/people/which one got pulled from the shelves mixed up too.

Also in a Roddy Piper/Jake Roberts podcast from 2015 they also seemed to imply that Matilda got injected with steroids:

quote:

JAKE:
"Don Muraco gets me and we find out that [The British Bulldogs] are going to work a program with the Hart Foundation. And I don’t know how many shots that dog may have received for rabies or….”

PIPER:

[whistling to change the subject]

JAKE:

“Okay, okay.”

PIPER:

“Boosters, booster shots, yes! For the flu and… the dog could probably bench press around 550!”

JAKE:

[laughing] “Yeah, yeah!”

Looking back at the list the homophobia is what really sticks out, but it's also striking how the list mixes like actual rape/murder/assault in with "Raven is an atheist" and "Dusty Rhodes stiffed some wrestlers on their payday" and "Ron Killings would rather drive than fly to a show because it's easier to bring his weed along" and "New Jack got paid in porno DVDs once" and "a bunch of people have had an affair".

Every male wrestler is a drunk, a drug addict, a steroid abuser, a violent psychopath, and worst of all, gay. Every female wrestler is a drug addict and even worse, a slut. That about sums up the list, last time I checked.

The story was that Vince was losing his mind after losing the ECW Championship, and felt like something terrible was about to happen to him, which led to the limo going boom.

Raven and Stevie vs the Pitbulls

It's a great bit of booking because it ties a ton of storylines together really cohesively but the match itself is sloppy as gently caress, although it's not bad, but it sure ain't 5 stars

Conversely, Dave hosed up by not giving Danielson vs Morishima in a Fight Without Honor 5, IMO

I also think Guerrero vs Lesnar should have gotten 5

Looking at a list of matches, there's definitely a couple I'd like to watch to see because they don't really sound like ***** matches.
Cactus Jack vs Eddie Gilbert from Tristate Wrestling Association's Summer Sizzler II.

There are also a couple of Terry Funk vs Eddie Gilbert from 92 & 93 that I'm highly sceptical about.

Not that Funk vs Gilbert in a Texas Death Match sounds at all bad, but a more different scene from Ospreay Takagi or Omega Okada is hard to imagine.

It's not that I think Gilbert is bad, he's a lot of fun but his stuff definitely works better in the context of a feud.

I just don't see how it isn't 5, unless Goldberg's run in bothers Dave that much. Its REALLY well played out, has a compelling story, Brock takes 2 crazy bumps considering he was still around 300 lbs at the time, and the right guy went over.

If you were just correcting me, I know Dave didn't give it 5. Hence my complaint.

Dr. Ass

For years I thought Goldberg's run-in kind of tainted Eddie's title win, but I recently went back and watched it for the first time in forever and I forgot that the spear didn't directly set up the winning frog splash. Goldberg just leveled the playing field for a couple minutes. I had forgotten how genuinely great Eddie actually looked winning that match.

That was a joke, referencing when people got Outraged(tm) that Dave didn't give HBK/Taker five stars that one time, I dunno what he actually gave it.

I've always thought that it was because Hall was infamous amongst hardcore fans at the time for all the wrong reasons: being a broken-down mess, missing shows, constantly getting disciplined/arrested, etc but still being a part of the company. There were all kinds of "wink wink nudge nudge" references to him through the year, usually in relation to Nash who had been characterised both on- and off-screen as a politicking rear end in a top hat. I think it was just supposed to continue on in that vein, even though something like 95% of the audience wouldn't have had a clue (or cared about) what was going on backstage. The match itself was the peak of Vince Russo's love affair with pole matches: the other boxes had a blow-up doll and a coal miner's glove, the latter possibly in reference to something that had happened in WCW many years prior. Also the little guy from Howard Stern did a run-in.

Thinking about it, I'm not sure if it wasn't just random for the sake of it.

Also Brock botched landing on the belt from the DDT, so it makes Eddie look more powerful.

Ric Flair has as always been referred to as 16 time world champion. His video from this week had 17 time champion on it. Which of Flair's 21 reigns have WWE decided to acknowledge? And why don't they count all his reigns anyway?

On the wikipage for NWA champions, it shows a period during 1982 where Flair lost the belt like 5 times to various people then the decision go reversed and he was re-awarded the title.
