Did anyone else see the bullshit liberal twitter storm on the weekend? So warren kinsella posted something about "read the newspapers on friday, muhwhahwahwahawhahw" But nothing happened. But some non-real reporter guy tweeted out a rumour that JT raped a 17 year old student back when he was teaching at west point. School already published a response saying it wasn't true, but gently caress if twitter isn't losing their minds about it. vincentpricesboner fucked around with this message at 00:50 on Oct 7, 2019 |

This is bonkers: https://schroederinstitute.org/why-does-canada-owe-newfoundland/ Some institute saying that Canada should pay Newfoundland's provincial debt because of historical wrongs done to Newfoundland. Wrongs such as that terrible hydroelectric deal Newfoundland signed with Quebec. Apparently that was now done for national unity (please ignore the repeated, failed court challenges seeking to undo that deal). Also, for a small percentage of its history in Canada, Newfoundland didn't receive equalization payments! Since Canada apologized to LGBTQ groups and First Nations, it's Newfoundland's turn. I can't tell if it's parody, of if they are serious about asking for Canada to treat Newfoundland the way it treats the first nations - as a thing that would be good for Newfoundland.

Just chiming in here to say that anyone thinking about voting Liberal "because the NDP have no chance in my riding and I'd be throwing my vote away" is an absolute moron. Whose fault is it that voting for the NDP would be throwing away their vote? Liberals. Which party stopped supporting strategic voting as soon as they started polling behind the NDP, causing the loving Doug Ford government in Ontario? Liberals. The loving Liberals are the ONLY reason the Conservatives have a chance of forming Government. And that's intentional - keeping the Conservatives competitive is how they convince dumb shits to vote for them. Don't be a dumb poo poo. Also, the child benefit is poo poo. It's scraps they throw to the poor so they can kind of get away with not having a proper national childcare program. It's not enough money to actually pay for daycare. And a proper national program would create tons of good government jobs for childcare workers, who as a group are one of the professions that is the most grossly undercompensated and poorly treated. The Liberals like it that way.
