So who is now actually running Iraq? Al Sadr seems to have the largest party, but there are a lot of them. And the president is ex PUK? And the prime minister Iran aligned religious Shia ex-marxist?

turkey isn't involved in the F-35 program anyway because they made the much wiser decision to buy S-400's from russia instead

dunno if it's even true but, steel bends, alu cracks. bending bad, cracking death. not that that would help with an f35, but still

also high quality steel is more expensive, and lockheed need more cash

Damascus' response to this will be key. If the SAA move to aid the Kurds could potentially see Erdogan moving to invoke article 5 if the Russians back Assad. Too much oil for Damascus to let the Turks just seize.

I thought my ideas were so clear. I wanted to make an honest post. No lies whatsoever.

The problem with the F-35 this whole time is that we've been getting our steel frames from Turkey and not Damascus.

the F-35's main problem is that it was designed to be the same basic plane in three versions for the air force, navy and marines. the navy one has bigger wings for carrier launches, and the marine version has a big lift fan in the center so it can take off and land vertically from baby carriers -- like a harrier jump jet. the point is so the planes can be designed / built at the same time, and share parts, which is supposed to make it cheaper. it's the most expensive airplane ever though so it didn't really work out as planned.

but the lift fan makes the F-35 look like a fat and bloated chicken with little chicken wings. it looks fat:

not fat:

and even though the air force and navy versions do not have the lift fan, they are also fat because of the same basic design.

this isn't about looks though but aerodynamic performance, weight, and compactness (which makes the F-35 very hot). it also doesn't have great range which is a problem for the navy version, since you need long range when operating from carriers -- because the closer a carrier is to the enemy the more vulnerable it is. the turbofan engine is powerful but there's only one of them, like the nimble F-16. the navy's F/A-18 and the air force's F-15 have two engines. it's good to have an extra engine, especially if you're a U.S. ally like canada that regularly flies its fighter around the arctic where there are few places to land if something goes wrong.

the advertising says: don't worry the F-35 is a dog that can't turn or dodge anything because it's a stealth fighter. so you're just hoping russia and china doesn't modify or otherwise develop radars that can defeat that. my understanding of stealth is that there is no all-purpose stealth, just stealth designed to hide from particular types of radio waves on the electromagnetic spectrum.

you can even trace the origin of this in part to the invasion of grenada (oddly) which was kind of a debacle. the U.S. quickly won the war, obviously, but the different branches didn't do a good job communicating with each other leading to various mistakes (U.S. naval gunfire and warplanes killing U.S. troops on the ground among other things). so afterwards congress passed the goldwater-nichols act which reorganized the chain of command and centralized procurement decisions.

Having thought about it a bit, it does fit Trump's moronic image of US armed forces being mercenaries for hire to other nations around the world.

Problem is, pres. babbyhands gets duped so easily by other nation's dictators that proud 'merican soldiers are just selling themselves cheap as gently caress. Heck, I'm sure Turkey will keep on happily buying S400s from Russia anyway and lol at the F-35.

The drones and cruise missiles flew so low and with such stealth that neither their takeoff nor their impending attack was detected in time by Saudi or U.S. radar. The pro-Iranian Houthi militia in Yemen claimed responsibility for the raid. That was as believable as saying that Santa Claus did it.

So the drones/missiles weren't detected coming from Iran but the only other option is believable as Santa Claus. Guess Iran just has super missiles huh?? :thunk:
