am I missing something or are these protests kinda dumb. who cares if China can extradite criminals? don’t they own Hong Kong anyway? all the pics I see have people framing it as about democracy or human rights, but like, nobody is protesting the uygur genocide. which seems way worse to me. I guess from a stupid guy socialist position it looks like a bunch of namby pamby petty boug shenanigans I’m sorry if this has already been asked and answered. like I said I subscribe to the idiot socialist party so I’m not too good at this international stuff but I’m trying to get better. please correct me.

The HKers are largely living in their own bubble and see the world with their very special distorted lens. Back in the summer when the 5 demands still matter it was very hard to explain to the HK based goons that their reaction to the extradition bill is very overboard in respond to what the bill is actually trying to do. Not to mention the bill has a lot of exemption causes to avoid the political crimes and special interests, so they were protesting on the argument of "BUT you are going add more to the bill in the future." Basically the HKers hate to be Chinese and has a identity crisis seeing the 2047 due date is getting close, so they want to use this protest against the bill as a springboard to engineer an renegotiation of their 50 year deal with the central government. (I am grossing over a lot of stuff but I am focusing on the emotional cores). The HKers also have been teaching themselves with the left over colonial textbooks so they are very ignorant of the concept of the class struggle and their own discrimination of the minorities, Filipino maids etc. The entire island is full of very right leaning libertarians, including the 75 year old who has to live in cage. I have never seen a Uyghur sign in the last 6 months of the HK street protest. Like I said they see the world from their weird filter lens that's how they interpret the pepe, and MAGA poo poo so differently. They way they used it as a slogan I am not sure if they know what metoo actually mean.

The biggest reason I support the Hong Kong Protests is because I had a loving incredible meal at a Uygur restaurant near the old Hong Kong airport.
