I love that no matter how hard the advanced statement plumb the depths for metrics, the best they come up with is still "did they shoot at the goal and was it close and accurate"


Even XGoals is completely loving ludicrous despite all the attention it gets. The latest model uses logistic regression and has a negative effect for "goal mouth" available to the shoot for likelihood of scoring. Which means that the more goal that the shooter can see, the less likely a goal is. Great work guys
