That's what Minneapolis did. AEG, which runs Target Center tried to bill the campaign for it. The campaign said there was nothing in the contract that let them do that and AEG backed down. AEG won't just pay the city for it because they claim that'd be an in-kind campaign contribution.

I go to a Turkish barber round the corner from my work because I get a good haircut and hot shave for £20.

By hot shave I mean he trims my beard then shapes it with a straight razor. Was super unnerving the first time.

Also trimminf the hair around my ear with a flaming stick was cool

Its kind of extra stupid in this case because of course someone who's job involves a lot of public appearances is going to dish out extra on hair cuts.

And of course, the presumption here is that being a socialist means that you're taking some sort of poverty vow until every persons' needs are met and if you don't you're a hypocrite. Thats a fundamentally stupid take on socialism, because its not about ones' personal earnings and more about how control of business is structured. It seeks to elevate all people, except for billionaires because gently caress 'em.

So the actual article seems to say that they're "volunteering" to protect people in transit - meaning, not in the venue itself.

Is this really a case of "partnering" or "hiring" - seems like just something a group decided to do.

People who are like that as fully functioning adults usually already have something wrong with their brain that results in reduced cognitive function and neuroplasticity, so when the dementia sets in it's absolutely devastating.

Schizophrenics that get dementia usually decline super rapidly.

That's how you get someone like Trump. Something was already wrong with him and the dementia amplifies it 100-fold. He may not be mentally capable of running in 2020 so we may end up with a Weekend at Donnie's: White House edition wherein Mitch McConnell has to figuratively (and maybe literally) stick his arm up Trump's rear end to puppet him around.

St Pete is hipster as gently caress. And a large awesome gay community too. Charlie Crist is our congressman.

To steer back into USPOL. Matt Gaetz recently tried to hold an anti-impeachment rally in front of Christ's office but forgot to set a reminder on his calendar and never showed up.

https://floridapolitics.com/archives/307691-matt-gaetz-trump-rally

quote:

Republican U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz was a no-show at his own rally Monday afternoon in downtown St. Pete.

Gaetz announced last week he would be rallying voters and speaking in front of Democrat Congressman Charlie Crist’s office Monday.

But Gaetz canceled his appearance about an hour before the event was scheduled, citing a “miscommunication.”

“Due to a miscommunication on the RNC’s part, Congressman Gaetz will no longer be attending today. The event has shifted to a training and rally supporting the President,” Trump Victory Spokesperson Danielle Alvarez said.

Alvarez offered another statement later.

“Instead of focusing on what they were elected to do, Democrats like Rep. Crist, have broken their promise to voters, choosing to waste taxpayer dollars on a baseless impeachment inquiry.

“Crist pretends to be a moderate in rhetoric only, but when it comes time to act, he turns around and votes with the socialist squad,” Alvarez said.

Word of the rally spread quickly over the weekend and Tampa Bay Democrats quickly organized a counterprotest.

By the time 1 p.m. rolled around, there were at least twice as many pro-impeachment protesters as there were participants in Gaetz’s rally. A Trump supporter who attended the rally later followed up saying by 2 p.m. the impeachment crowd had thinned to just a handful of people while the pro-Trump crowd still had about 50 people remaining. Florida Politics was not able to independently verify his information, but the emailer offered a photo showing Trump supporters standing where the pro-impeachment crowd had been as evidence.

The two groups stood on either side of First Avenue North as motorists flooded by, many of them on their way to the Tampa Bay Rays playoff game at Tropicana Field, which caused traffic to be extra heavy in the area..

It cannot be said enough that conservatives believe that anyone who advocates for anything approaching socialist policy is actually advocating for everyone to be poverty stricken all the time. I think you are giving them too much credit.

The Republican party understands full well what socialism is. Their supporters don't.

The thing is, their supporters, at this point, don't even understand what conservatism is. The support base has been sold on ideas like "Brown people bad!" and "Jesus wants you to vote for Republicans!". But what it really boils down it for the Republicans at the top, isn't race, or religion, or creed.

It's all about the rich getting richer, regardless of race or belief, and everyone else becoming the slave class. Except for idiots like Steve King (who rapidly get shanked) the Republicans measure human worth by how much money they have.

Just look at Betsy Devos. She tries to sell private education on a religious basis, but what it really boils down to is privatizing education and redirecting all that sweet, sweet government money to the rich. Privatize profit and socialize risk on the backs of everyone else. If America was majority Muslim she would be pushing privatized Sharia and Qu'Ran based education.

If you don't realize the enemy you are fighting, you can't beat them.

The Republican party is far more evil than you think. You think you are ascribing some sort of belief system or twisted set of ethics to them. That indicates that discourse and change is possible.

The people at the top of the Republican party have no system of ethics or morality that you can change. It's all about money, who has it, and who doesn't. Socialism terrifies Republicans not because they don't understand it, but because it is the antithesis of their world. It is an existential threat to them.
