I was always against DPi at LeMans because I'd rather the top class had 3 cars than BoP in a prototype race. But since the ACO are somehow inventing their own multilayered terrible version of BoP to gently caress up the top class anyway then screw it, let's at least have the BoPed cars that loving work.

Ford is pushing hard to have DPis eligible to run at Le Mans since it would help justify the coming decision whether to spend money on a 2022 program and benefit both IMSA and the WEC. but I would nearly drop dead of surprise if the FIA agreed to it

P2 has had BOP for a while, but yeah, for the top class of the world championship it ain't great. It’s so obviously beneficial to both IMSA and the WEC that they align hypercar and DPi 2.0 in the face of a global recession and huge uncertainty and upheaval within the automotive industry, to make it as easy as possible for manufacturers to commit to programs, but the FIA is myopic and shortsighted and only like ideas when they’re the ones who came up with them. There’s no reason not to have hypercars at Daytona and DPis at Le Mans except for sheer stubborn protectionism

Hypercar is just so dumb. There’s no incentive to develop anything clever because of BOP, and the cars are gimped compared to the actual road cars they’re supposed to be based on. A Valkyrie can’t run it’s hybrid system etc etc.

The new tower at Road Atlanta is amazing, especially compared to the old one. The cars sound really odd in here because of how thick the glazing is.
