They raise cheetahs alongside dogs there and it’s supposedly calms them. Other big cats do well in captivity, but cheetahs are apparently pretty high strung, and do better with a goofy doggo friend

Cheetahs aren’t very dangerous in the wild mostly because they know how fragile they are. They’re incredibly fast but weak in an actual fight, so they tend to be surprisingly docile around humans and avoid confrontation if they can help it. You can’t exactly pal around with a wild cheetah you just found, but it won’t do much if you don’t threaten its cubs or something.

They were so popular as pets they went through an evolutionary bottleneck. They are as inbred as pugs.
