Living in Belfast with 3 small kids I don't really have the luxury of being able to sit back and watch the UK burn from my deck chair with a pint.

sounds like being in belfast you avoid the worst of it if this somehow passes or more likely wins the referendum

If it passes and Belfast stays quasi in the EU, financially it'll loving rule for Belfast investment as a hub city straddling two trading zones would be massive, but it'll suck if it stirrs up the absolutely psychopathic loyalist community I cannot stress how loving deranged and willing to do violence these people are.

might this actually get amended to include a second ref and then passed? the usual suspects would vote against from the labour benches, but there's enough tory defectors now - and the government can't count on DUP votes - that i can sort of see it happening would be a potentially great thing for corbyn, he could demonstrate some remainer bona fides heading up the official remain campaign, which seems very winnable given how crap johnson is at pretty much everything other than outright lying

Ape Fist posted:Corbyn isn't really a remainer, he's all in favour of a second referendum but he's not explicitly pro remain. no, but if this lovely deal reaches a second referendum he'd presumably lead the campaign to remain, which might help him out with some of the bleeding that's happened to the lib dems recently

Basically thing is the leftist complaints about the EU have absolutely nothing to do with Brexit as established. (since they're actually based in reality)

What the Lib Dems have never really reckoned with is that in a second referendum, Leave is very likely to win. This is why you need to only go for a referendum if the Leave option isn't terrible, which is basically Corbyn's (eminently reasonable) position.
