I know how you feel. I beat the (still a very good game even if DE is out now) Witcher 3 and then the next game on my backlog was Dragon Age Inquisition. And let me tell you, a) DA:I does not benefit from the immediate comparison and b) eh, I got over it and managed to enjoy what there was to enjoy of it.

I've had a problem with taking screenshots on steam for a while, but this is the first time I'm really annoyed by it. Is there anything in steam / the game settings that stops the game from taking screenshots when I press F11 (or whatever that is). Hogama posted:Can't get it before Day 3. (Ending spoilers.) Kind of surprised we didn't end up with something tied to the Pale in some way. I guess with the claims of 90 hours for a thorough playthrough (hah, no loving way) I thought there'd be a wider scope - if not the Pale, then at least more of the conflict between the Union and the Moralintern. Not that I'm disappointed - it was a great game. The ending tied things up well. The appearance of something as wondrous and weird as the phasmid was touching. The detective story was pretty satisfying, on the whole. Anyway, time to fire up a trainer to jack my stats to max to see how that plays out.

It's pretty remarkable how my opinion of Evrart turned around so much. They did a good job making him the obvious unlikable rear end in a top hat at the start before slowly but surely twisting your perception of him. He's still a colossal, corrupt jerk, but a jerk you can respect. Hell, at the end of the quest chain, he sounded almost sincere. ...Of course I'm still on day 4, so who knows, maybe my Empathy has been fooling me all along!

I'm a bit stuck on a quest. I'm supposed to find Ruby, and I talked to the old lady and it says to "check her shack". I've checked everything and I'm not sure what I'm missing. Forgive me if it's obvious. Also, if you miss your chance to get your gun, does that ruin the game or ending badly?

BlondRobin posted:It didn't get off on the best foot; the game opening up with Inexplicable Feminist Agenda felt more like I'd stepped into South Park than Revanchol, and going out back to a kid spamming homophobic slurs didn't really help that. like most of the game writing, the satirisation of viewpoints (especially viewpoints as they pertain to videogames and the protagonist) is rather clever. the takeaway from that thought is not "feminism is bad" but rather "isn't it incongruous that this alcoholic, drug-addicted, chaotic policeman with a perma-leer on his face, who seems to be estranged, probably due to fault on his part, from any romantic female partner, is now expressing very feminist dialogue? It's almost as if a player is controlling him and using him to express their own beliefs." kids still say homophobic slurs (depressingly) in real life and - mid-ish game mild spoiler those children are given enough backstory and development to make it clear later that they are very, very damaged people

As far as the past goes all evidence is that you are a self-hating depressive who went real, real weird after your break up, and have a surprisingly low body count for being an amazing detective in the most overworked precinct in the city. Like by the end of the game Kim has a roughly equal body count to you over his entire career. You're a big ol' Sad Boy, doing it Sad Style, rocking out to Sad FM. The only way you end up as machismo huffing jerk is if you decide to go that way. In which case, well, that's on you.

Ok. I'm at a loss in Martinaise Still Day 1 Spoilers Ok. I still have no way to get to the harbor. After scouring Martinaise for a way to do so I have stumbled across 3 options: 1) Go through the kids' Lord of Flies meth lab and jump for my jacket (failed) 2) Internalize Meterhead's race supremacy horseshit (Roll Successful but thought discarded. Can't reroll) 3) Punch Meterhead (I tried this twice. One without the scab leader's help once with. He broke my hand so badly the game crashed). I am nowhere near a new level. It is also 9:00PM and I have nowhere to rest. I am not good at these kind of games.

Been loving the game so far. My biggest gripe though is the control scheme. Point and click is alright right but would be nice to see a wasd movement and maybe interact button :3 but other than that it's great.

I didn't say that was the cause of the memory loss at the end, though. I evicted those kids from their tent in good boring cop fashion. Also, that Dei chick sounded creepy as hell. I just met the programmer, and learned that the radiocomputers perform its operations over the "internet", and not in the hardware itself. Meaning in Disco Elysium, you can, or rather the only way to work with your computer is, to "download more RAM"?

Right proper ending spoilers: At the very end of the game, second last piece of dialogue, I got an esprit de corps check of Captain Pryce and the precinct medic going through a list and concluding "Harry's our man, he'll pull through. When he does, he'll side with the people." Am I going out too far on a limb in thinking Precinct 41 is planning an insurrection of some sort? Or is that standard regardless of ideology?

Day 2 spoilers: I had no points in rhetoric, but I investigated like, every possible lead to crack the hardie boys story about the murder. I found the bullet, etc. Even with all of that (I think it was like +6 by the end) the highest the chance got up to was like 42%, and I failed every time. HOWEVER, the last time (the 42%) it failed again, but I got a new dialogue option to ask Kim what the gently caress and the game very clearly just let me progress anyway.

I just got this and am already overwhelmed at the character creation screen. Is it best to go with one of the defaults? I'm guessing specialised builds are the way to go as that's what all the defaults are

It doesn't matter. Objectively a IN NO ORDER 2334 build is probably best. You'll have enough to get through a lot of the early checks fine and can build up enough points to make everything fairly solid as you progress. Going hyper into one thing at 5 is, actually, not super beneficial. You'll get more out of raising one of the 2s to 3s. The real answer though is don't worry about it, just play what looks fun.
