it’s basic PR type poo poo for marketing white guys, you lean into the Homer Simpson stereotype. if you’re a bit of a buffoon you can get away with more, hide behind it, etc. Reactionaries who try to be self-serious and “professional” (or however you want to characterize it) like Richard Spencer or Matthew Heimbach, become too obviously threatening/frightening/unhinged too quickly; they become a laughingstock at the first major setback. You can see the same thing happen with mainstream politicians like Trump or Boris Johnson is even with actors or musicians or whatever.
