sure but the amount of light it can, er, "collect" is still a function of the surface area of the lens (even disregarding variables like how much shadow there is nearby and how clean the lens is kept)

on an overcast day your underground burrow is going to be dark as gently caress unless the lens' surface area is several times the size of the room it's trying to light

I was once in a meeting room with a stupid light tunnel, we were about 15ft lower than the roof and the meeting degenerated into farce when we tried to use a projector but couldn't work out how to turn off the remaining bright light. It was a slightly cloudy day but one where the clouds are still bright, tbh one of the better meetings I've attended.

Last time you turned up to vomit all over the thread you were heavily in favour of private landlords. Therefore you either are one, or you're stupid beyond comprehension. Assuming you're a landlord is giving you the intellectual, if not moral, benefit of the doubt.

You don't get the house for free. You pay taxes and the government then uses them to pay people to build the houses.

Also private land ownership should be abolished and use of land decided by local authorities rather than whoever has the most money.

Okay, so you pay the bank. Who does the bank pay, do you think that they do or do not make a profit on this? In which case are you not being exploited?

Just because you don't feel exploited doesn't necessarily mean you aren't.

Okay, I've been reading the thread and not contributing for a fair while now, but is it actually the Marxism thread or the Megathread? Genuinely unsure if that's a joke or not.

If you're going to just keep going with this can you maybe just post your mortgage contract and tax returns upfront so we don't have to keep going with the tedious guessing game and occasional coy hints? Alternatively, just gently caress off.

The bank pays savers, employees, investors, producers, suppliers, and a whole bunch of other people. All those people need to get paid to pay for stuff they need and want. Some of those people put their time on the line. Some put up their wealth and risk taking a hit.

I was curious too. I decided to pick through their post history to get some clues and came across this absolute twist:

quote:

As a Brit, I've been following this AOC chick on Twitter for a while because she seems like she's down with guillotines, and we're desperately in need of that here in the UK. It's refreshing. How important a mover is she really though?

And that's about the only clue so who the gently caress knows what's going on in this one's head

But should you? Is it right that (I'm going to guess) over half of your pay goes toward a house you will never own? Why is it set at that amount? How much of that goes back into things that benefit you as the tenant, and how much of that is pure profit for the landlord?

I get that you don't want to ask yourself these questions, because it forces you to face up to the reality of the unfairness. But this thread is not the place to reinforce the mental feedback loop you're using to stop yourself getting angry about it.

Politics is improving people's lives in a sustainable manner I would say. That can be done through a highly progressive taxation system. What I'm seeing here is fantasies. People are angry right now, I get that, but retreating into fantasy is not the path out of this.

The overreaching attempts at justifying that the bank, or your landlord charge you a fair amount is nearer to fantasy than this thread's support of the fully costed labour manifesto.

As for anger, yours is being directed at the wrong people.

In a cosmic sense it's all unfair. But there are too many vested interests to do what many here are proposing without an awful lot of violence. To avoid violence you need pretty much everyone with you. You need angels in the place of men. That is highly unlikely to ever be the case.
