Jesus, didn't Top Gear have a bunch of trouble back in the day trying to get someone to parachute into the back seat of a car? At least with the motorcycle you don't have to worry about dropping into the seat, but the car doesn't have the problem of hitting at the wrong speed/angle and knocking the bike over.

But the bricks have been epoxied to the road surfaces that while some will certainly be nothing more than a minor bump to a hefty swat vehicle, with enough of them it's gonna be a hindrance as well as limit speed. It's also served as a way to create a road block and thus disruption of the city in general, furthering the efforts of the protest because while a group can be kettled and contained, or worse when you're talking Chinese methods of crowd control; when you shut down the means of the gen pop getting to work then entire swaths of productivity go down and that's when governments take notice.
