It can both, although the example I was forming relies on a certain amount of introspection on the part of the president so I guess maybe not.

Trump sold himself as a strongman and repeatedly makes overt allusions to becoming a dictator (such as "jokingly" suggesting removing term limits and claiming that any election loss is fraud that his supporters must violently oppose), so his base has gotten locked into the idea that Trump is personally responsible for everything and that removing him from office is our way of stopping him for good. There are people on both sides seriously spreading a conspiracy that Hillary is secretly planning on showing up in 2020 to steal the DNC nomination and become president. Both the far right and far left have a bizarre obsession with her as some megalomaniacal figure who's been pulling the strings for decades and trying to take over the world.

She was the absolute worst of both worlds-- too centrist to effect change on toxic US policy, and too polarizing to be an effective leader. The weird intensity of emotions she raises by simply existing makes her untenable, let alone what happens when she actually opens her mouth. She's been under the radar af since 2016 and people still obsess over her. I know the common Q conspiracy is that Hillary has been arrested or even already executed and we're only seeing a body double, but I wonder if after her death the conspiracy will shift to "She's secretly still alive and planning a comeback!"

So someone in the comments mentioned Soul Man, and I found this take in the Wikipedia page, a take that did not age well: quote:In defending the film, producer Steve Tisch said it was like Tootsie. "It used comedy as a device to expose sexual stereotyping. I think Soul Man uses it to explode racial stereotyping."[7]
