Here's an article on it. It took probably 24 hours to find the victim because he wouldn't cooperate with police. It's way cheaper/easier to make up fake reviewers and fake reviews from fake publications than it is to outright pay for good coverage. and Most professional critics/streamers live on an extremely precarious line of employment, and making GBS threads on their extended professional network--many of whom they interact with at conference events and via social media by simple virtue of sharing the same industry--is bad praxis, even when that network isn't giving them any actual benefits.

Which detailed how publishers try to coax a good review, and how for example, if the review starts with the writer showing off about their trip to the publisher's state (or country) and dinners it would imply a lot etc I can't for the life of me find it now however
