I know, right? you were already trashing the drywall! and putting up paneling over it!!! my favorite part is the protective duct tape where it passes over the studs no no my actual favorite part is the outlet in the top picture being entirely "mounted" by the 3" romex stud and a drywall screw. I'm very grateful the previous owners of my house did very, very minimal changes over 30+ years.

I'm thinking the drywall being torn open is the new homeowner revealing what the previous owner had done. Maybe.

Maybe. the new homeowner is me tearing down paneling to reveal mold after a recent slight basement flood. the wall is exactly as I found it after popping off the paneling. As a side note, if you ever need to remove tile, do yourself a massive favor and rent a demolition hammer. Hell, even if you have to pull up carpet tack strip out of concrete, rent one.

This is pretty mild, and hotels are kind of shooting fish in a barrel, but this place took me a minute to figure out the nuance. This room has a "entry", kitchenette, living room all kind of in the same area as far as lighting impact goes. There are 3 switches, 2 by the door and 1 by the kitchen. It seems like they are wired in series. Switch 1 is the "master", turning on the entry light and allowing the rest of them to turn on. Switches 2 and 3 turn on/off the kitchen lights, but not in a 3 way setup. Literally all 3 must be on for the kitchen lights to work.

I checked the link, and every non-bathroom has all that stuff. What are they all? Are the round ports lights, or something else? I have seen newly built hospital rooms with less connection ports.
