It's not a bad idea. A lot of times the modern cover letter is just a one paragraph email that introduces you, why you're emailing, and gives your contact information while thanking someone for taking the time to look at your attached resume.

Sending a naked email with a resume attachment is just weird

Increasingly all this stuff is getting streamlined to gently caress which is a positive

It used to be "four paragraphs, who you are, your relevant background, why you want the job, what skills you'll bring" and "three pages, make sure to have a big slab about your interests"

Now it's "one paragraph of pure contextualisation" and "one page, relevant experience, training and awards."

False.

The Simpsons is eternal. Every generation knows and has seen The Simpsons.

The Simpsons will be around when humanity dies out.

I have never seen the Simpsons. My parents thought it was too obscene. They had it higher on their list of things we'd get in trouble for even mentioning than things like mortal kombat, south park, beavis and butthead, mtv in general...

I figure there's too much of it to get caught up with so i'm fine with not watching it and eternally not "getting" all the simpsons memes.

Probably for the best. As someone who is truly fixated on Golden Age Simpsons, what made it special has been so thoroughly integrated into pop culture by its successors and descendants it likely would not have the same resonance, the same way I can appreciate Cheers but gently caress if I actually find any of it worth the watch.

My parents had the Simpsons on their list of "too obscene" as well. And it stuck around way longer than it should have, because they got this idea in their head in 1992 or whatever, and it just never went away. Like, in highschool, I could talk about watchinf the new South Park, that's fine, you're an older teenager and becoming mature enough to understand. But the Simpsons? Still off limits.

However, that just made me binge the Simpsons at any chance I got. Going to friends houses who had the seasons on DVD was the best. I don't know if I saw all of the episodes thru season 12, but I've seen a good chunk of them.

As far as catching up, season 1 is solid, but definitely a warm up season, I wouldn't necessarily watch it first, it's probably better appreciated after watching some of the later seasons. Seasons 2-7 are the absolute cream of the crop, the Simpsons at its absolute best. 7-11 are amazing seasons, but the later it gets, the air of ideas starting to dry up starts sneaking in. Plotlines are gradually getting wackier, it begins to slowly, gently drift away from everything that made the Simpsons great. It still is excellent, hilarious television, it just feels like it is something in the process of coming to an end, especially 10 and 11. Those are the seasons worth catching up on.

Season 11 ended with a "Behind the Music" parody called "Behind the Laughter" which was an excellent opportunity to end the show on a high note. But they neglected that opportunity, and began to just crank out garbage. Seasons 12+ still have the occasional witty joke and a few laughs, but they are few and far between. It is but the charred, empty husk of a once great show ( Zombie Simpsons has some great commentary on this subject).

That's because the HR person at a lot of companies gets dozens and dozens of resumes, and their job starts to feel like "eliminating bad candidates" rather than finding good ones.

A good HR person will get around that, but it turns out that they're just as lazy as the rest of us.

This is accurate. My workplace has no HR department but putting an ad on Indeed gets you thousands of resumes. About the only thing you can do is throw out anything obviously bad (like not staying at a job more than a few months or bad spelling) and go from there.
