I recently moved to Virginia from Florida and voted as a Virginian for the first time today. I've never felt anything like this before.

Here's hoping they don't gently caress it up by trying to grift instead of fixing the myriad issues that VAPOL has. Since 1993. And before that many state level elected Democrats were still Dixiecrats and Blue Dogs. This will be the most progressive legislature since Reconstruction.

My local news was saying that Virginia Democrats last had legislative control ~25 years ago, which means that this state hasn't been strongly Democratic since I was in elementary school (I'm 35). I'm really excited for what this means for gerrymandering in this state.

D&D over the years has been a microcosm of this. D&D started as most of SA did as mostly white college males, lot of libertarianism. Now the more they've grown up and entered the real world, they've moved more leftward. By in part the fact that not a whole lot of tax bracket movement is actually happening as much anyway, or very small leaps after years in wilderness. Even the right isn't very Randian right now lol, its way more into kek crap. If you want to bet libertarianism will swing back, bet on a soaring economy that will produce more plump comfy boys. Somehow I don't think that's around the corner.

Congratulations VA goons just saw your results from an AP notification. Meanwhile, in southern Utah I'm covering a special election which is turning out Navajo in droves. There's a lot of Democratic support even if they don't particularly like their candidates. it's cool to see a people who have been systemically marginalized and disenfranchised voting again and making change in their local government.
