It was floated before he won in 2016 and given the state of his damaged brand, a conservative network makes more sense than continuing to slap the name on hotels. His resorts are losing money because you can’t operate when half the country and most of the world hates your guts, but cable news is already heavily partisan and conservative media is a proven grift. It also gives his children a guaranteed platform of the GOP and Fox decide to distance themselves from him after 2020. It is more likely to happen than the Trump mega church or Trump going back to just being a real estate guy. He will absolutely not disappear for the good of the GOP if he loses.
