I’m torn between thinking Apprentice: White House is a great idea or a terrible one.

It is possible it would be a smash hit, given the fact that Trump would literally be a former POTUS. People would watch that.

It is possible it would be a huge waste of political capital for Trump. He could do a lot better. I don’t think it would be a pipeline for future GOP leaders or anything.

On the other hand, he could do a lot worse. It would keep his politics in the news cycle. He wouldn’t fade out of memory like Bush Jr. He could continue affecting the GOP after he leaves office.

His best move would be a cable news network with conservative programming and TV shows that cater to his base. His show would be a flagship show, and he would give a platform to his biggest supporters who are too fringe for Fox News. That would be his legacy.

What the gently caress is this post.

So, this idiot, despite being a Naval Intelligence Officer, had his security clearance suspended and was under review because of poo poo he said during Charlottesville. Sadly I can't find any more info after 2017 as to the status of his clearance or lack thereof.

So three questions

1. Did they give him his clearance back?
2. If yes to 1, why?
3. Did he use his security clearance to try and expose the whistleblower (if yes to 1)?

Of course if it's still suspended/under review 2 years later I doubt he's ever getting it back after this stunt.

Having a security clearance by itself doesn't give you access to everything, anything of consequence is narrowly compartmentalized and you only get access based on your job on a case by case basis. So probably not.

Getting your clearance suspended is normally a career killing mega fuckup in MI because it basically makes you completely unable to do your job.

I don’t know if you are just willfully misinterpreting that post so you can be mad about Trump but obviously “His best move” means “Trump’s best move” and not “I support Trump.”

Trump moving from the White House back to TV and starting his own cable network isn’t some random spit-take. It was floated before he won in 2016 and given the state of his damaged brand, a conservative network makes more sense than continuing to slap the name on hotels. His resorts are losing money because you can’t operate when half the country and most of the world hates your guts, but cable news is already heavily partisan and conservative media is a proven grift. It also gives his children a guaranteed platform of the GOP and Fox decide to distance themselves from him after 2020. It is more likely to happen than the Trump mega church or Trump going back to just being a real estate guy. He will absolutely not disappear for the good of the GOP if he loses.

I dont know if it started with in that particular article, but it was originally used to describe all of the literally untrue stories masquerading as legitimate news sites that were getting shared on Facebook. Like not even Fox News or Breitbart levels of misleading, but just straight-up creative writing class levels of fiction

people will overlook an awful lot in the name of a political win.

The reason he hasn't stepped down is because voters, largely, didn't care. Including black Virginia voters, who gave a pretty collective "Oh, wow, white people are racist, you say?" to the whole thing when polled
