No Muscles For The Majority
I joined because a buddy on another forum suggested I should. Around 2011 I was asked to mod YLLS (then called Watch & Weight). Then a bunch of admins left and I was asked to be an admin. Then I got sick of dealing with admin poo poo and went back to just modding YLLS. Then I left the mod team outright when I got fed up with behind-the-scenes nonsense. Now I mostly post about VR games, but I follow WWE threads because it's fun to see reactions to how bad the shows are.

I think I’m the rare soul who actually discovered Something Awful through the front page; I discovered the site when I was 13, and followed the front page updates religiously for years. Ironically, I think I stopped following front page content once I finally ponied up the :10bux: for my account. :v: I think Let’s Play’s were the reason I finally wandered into the forum section of the website, since I was pretty big on following the content on the LP Archive in high school and wanted more. Somehow that ended up with me lurking on this sub forum more and more, and here I am.

I'm pretty sure i joined because I was an evil teenage pirate and the files forum had really good comic book torrents.

I also found the forums through the front page! I always loved the Photoshop Phridays and other forums articles which eventually led me to look at the forums. I lurked for a long while until I finally registered because I think I desperately wanted to read the SAclopedia to understand all the inside jokes.

I have a tendency to concentrate on one thing on these forums. I posted badly on GBS, Games and PYF for a while, then almost exclusively in the bad webcomics threads on BSS, then I spent a few years pretty much only posting in Music (most of all the industrial/NIN threads) and the synthesizer thread in Musician's Lounge before I got back into the wrassles in 2015 after which I've more or less only been posting here. Honestly - in my experience this is the nicest & coolest subforum (although the industrial and synth goons were always fabulous people). Long live the Hut of the Professional Grapplings Twenty Hundred

Edit: Oh no this is the social media thread!!! Here, have a somewhat recent Bread Club update

I discovered there was a place that had a material cost for being banned, which curbed the Internet's tendancy to CW: Hate speech

I definitely was a front page reader for years before I ever had an account, I remember being in middle school reading Photoshop phridays and being astounded it wasn't banned on school internet yet.

i thought the pay $10 to post thing was a gag, like the fake front page, and just lurked for most of 04-06. eventually one of my real life friends (the same one who introduced me to the main site) explained how it was an idiot filter so i ponied up, and within weeks was banned for of all things image leeching.

Good luck with your depression!
I joined originally in like 2000 because of photoshop stuff and the front page. Only made it like a year before I got banned, then by the time I got around to coming back there was a paywall and I said gently caress it and mostly forgot about it. Came back a couple years later and mostly stuck to the front page or lurking before my significant other bought me an account as a christmas present. Almost immediately after I reregged my account got hijacked along with my main email and banned and I had to email Finn to get it back lol

Remember how funny Fashion SWAT was (I haven’t reread them in years they might not hold up)? I read those ad naseum, then Photoshop Phridays, then Weekend Webs, then Flash Tubs (high school me probably would have listed Shmorky as one of my biggest artistic influences YIKE) then realized there was forums, then lurked for 5 years, then finally bought myself a forums account as a present to myself for graduating high school. And I’ve essentially been lurking ever since!

A friend of mine asked me to join at the time. I had gotten sick of the site I was on (a1wrestling which was full of arseholes, and had Holzerman, and Dylan Waco among other moderately infamous wrestling twitter people. I think it was at the tail end of torrents being freely available, and I liked the tv and wrestling discussion.

i joined because i was following mario rom hack lps by a guy i can't actually remember who had a thing for killing yoshi, and then the one i was going through went into archives.

then i quickly got into lurking bss and wh2k. now it's just here, because, idk, comics are very tiring at this point and i could only follow one art form where the biggest representative is giving me the finger on a regular basis.

i was previously a front page reader, but i'd fallen off out it for years prior to regging.

A good friend.

I’m glad AEW was just starting when I decided to check out wrestling. New Japan is cool too, but I’d never see the live shows or be able to get other people over to watch with me.

Which LP was it?

I was an early member of the Facepunch forums and when I learned it was an offshoot of this place I lurked and fell off and re-lurked after discovering retsupurae. From there I waited until I had enough money stashed to justify dropping ten bucks to join up.

Then botchamania led me to chikara which led me to El Generico which led me to NXT which led me to become an active wrestling fan for the first time since Eddie passed, which led me to you fine folks.
