It's missing an Underworlds release, which I was suspect about until I remembered the single-box release has kinda thrown the release cycle off the predictions anyway.

I might have to nab some of those Chaos Dwarves this time around as I was low on funds the first time they came up made to order. I have most of a team. I'm really just missing a second Bull Centaur.

Some mates bought big into Necromunda, so they're keen to play. Not having to buy into it is a huge boon, so there any solid advice out there for starting? Goliaths look pretty simple so I'm happy to run them.

Yah, competent players on an open board can avoid melee pretty easily, although Goliath have a couple of nasty tricks to guarantee one charge.

Which might be all you need. Or you could whiff all three attacks and suffer death by a thousand cuts in retaliation, as happened to my friend’s Goliath champs on more than one occasion.

Probably. But based on the fact that many box-tethered minis or sets of minis have yet to be released by themselves, it might not happen for like, a year.

isn't this a little different? i can't remember any other box-specific minis that locked like, half of the gang roster behind a bundle box.

GW have been doing this with other releases though, sometimes to the point of the exclusive models never releasing on their own. I'd say it's a way to incentivize you to buy the expensive core box, but most of the time, the core box goes OOP and you can't buy it anyway

Necromunda gets quarterly releases, so I expect them to get released in March.

Throw in FW releases and a lot of specialist games get monthly releases. Expecting new plastic titans early next year.

I would also still appreciate some danger.

This seems a lot like a second swipe at the AT Grandmaster Edition sales model, where you get a wave of new releases in one expensive box.

It would be more exciting if it fit into my budget, but they'll definitely release eveything in it eventually.

I even want everything in the Dark Uprising box, but the price is too wild for me. Even knowing that I want to have a full 4x4 table for ZM and Necromunda one day, it is going to take a while building it bit by bit.

Glad I still have the old cardboard tiles. I hope they don't go away forever.

$490 NZD equates to $310 USD, so you're not too far off in terms of exchange value, since we're paying $290.

I agree it's a hefty sum. I am waiting to see how much the terrain itself costs and how it is parcelled up (like, how many walls and corners do you get vs how many walkways/lifts/doors). Might be better to buy those parts individually than in the box if you have no use for the gangs, paraphernalia or rulebook. Especially since I want the plastic tiles.

Seems like the Book of Ruin doesn't have the core Uprising campaign rules in it though. Will wait and see (it does have 'alternate Uprising campaign rules') but I will be a bit pissed off if there is rules content fully locked into the Dark Uprising book.

It seems possible! Note, however, that the new frame for the cops is the heavy guys (with just three heavies per frame), while the Corpse Grinder Cult has a sprue with five guys on it, like all the existing gangs, except two of the guys on it are juves and three are heavies. It seems vaguely more likely to me that what we'll get is new heavy sprues for the existing gangs, rather than new juve sprues, but that's just because I suspect GW thinks they'll have an easier time selling "Look at our new box of bigger, heavier, more awesome Vaan Sars" than "Look at our new box of smaller, weaker, suckier Vaan Sars."

Genghis Cohen
Jun 29, 2013
It's not that simple though. Enforcers are unique in having 2 types of 'Ganger' (heavy ones are Subjugators and regular are Patrolmen; champions and leader can be of either type). The Corpsegrinders are maybe a move forward in having separate Juve models, but again there are some distinctions in unit type the core gangs don't have.

Played a great narrative game today. Pics to follow. 3 players, and our new guy, in his second game, had his Genestealer Adept (leader) killed! D66, boom, gone.

For the Epic 40k players out there- this is supposed to be the size of a knight in 15mm (4.5" tall) so it would probably make an excellent closer-to-truescale Imperator kitbash. The current Imperator is 2.5" from feet to head (not counting the stuff on top)

I guess if your only priority is something being about the right shape. It doesn't look anything like a 40k model, and the details aren't scaled at all correctlly.

Yeah but at $13, it's a cheap stand-in that you can kitbash/convert to look more 40k if you so desire. And that can mean the world to some people.
