Special formatting request: Please only list the name of the person you are voting for from each match-up. This will be easier for me to count than bolding names from match-ups. I can work around this if necessary, but if you can vote by just listing the name of your choice, that would be great. You can abstain from votes. You are not required to list that vote as ‘abstain,’ you just need to skip it. Chris Jericho Finished 4th in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Eliminated in Round 4 of 2017 WH-128 by Asuka Eliminated in Round 2 in 2013 by Kota Ibushi. Eliminated in his Bye-To-Finals Ultra Final in 2011 by CM Punk. Won the 2009 Wrestlehut 128 Favorite Wrestler Tournament. Jericho is still a very versatile worker. Despite a serious case of dad bod, he’s put on very good matches on his way to becoming the AEW World Champion, as well as a great run in New Japan. He still cuts great promos and created a minor meme in the past month with his “a little bit of the bubbly” line. At 48 years of age, Jericho is still among the sport’s elite. El Hijo del Vikingo Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 Vikingo emerged this year as the hottest lucha libre star going, thanks in large part to an amazing match he had with Laredo Kid. Very few wrestlers have ever had the explosiveness and impact that he does on his high flying moves. His trios matches, where he most often teams with Myzteziz Jr. & Laredo Kid, are often fun and very chaotic affairs. Shayna Baszler Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 She’s the first woman to hold NXT’s Women’s Championship multiple times. She has a very “real” charisma around her – no one in the world is better at being a heel Shayna Baszler than she is. She’s also had some very good matches with Kairi Sane, Io Shirai, & Candice LeRae over the past year plus. Chris Dickinson Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 Dickinson has been fighting for the title of the U.S.’s top worker on the indies this year with a series of great matches on Beyond Wrestling’s Uncharted Territory, as he pursued a match with Daisuke Sekimoto at their Americana event. Almost every match he has along the way to that event was great. He’s a great brawler who can also mix in some technical work, and has a charisma at least in Beyond that reminds me of Nick Gage’s relationship with crowds. Aja Kong Finished 31st in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 Kong is one of the all-time greatest joshi workers. While past her prime, she definitely knows how to work to be as effective as possible. She showed this in the six-woman tag at Double or Nothing and a very good match with Hikaru Shida in 2018 for OZ Academy. She has recently been a regular for OZ Academy, Sendai Girls, and Pro Wrestling Diana. Ultimo Guerrero Eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Minoru Suzuki The MVP of CMLL, Ultimo Guerrero is still a great worker despite being on his way to turning 48. He’s been the central point of the promotion for a couple of years now. This year’s he’s had great matches with Caristico, plus in various tags with his stablemates Euforia and Gran Guerrero. Fenix Eliminated in Round 2 of 2017 WH-128 by Sami Zayn Fenix is often unfairly overlooked in favor of his brother Pentagon Jr., but Fenix is a tremendous talent in his own right. Likely better in the ring, he more than carries his own in their tag matches. He’s also shined in singles matches with Joey Janela, WALTER, and Aramis. Adam Page Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 Hangman is going to be a central player in AEW’s future. He had a great 2018, including highly praised matches in the G1 Climax. He’s been inactive for most of 2019, but he’s had good matches in his few appearances, including his failed title match against Chris Jericho at All Out. He’s also had a pair of good matches against PAC. Sanada Finished 20th in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 Sanada seems to be on the verge of putting it all together. Long thought of as a top prospect in Japan, he’s had a tremendous 2019. He shined in the New Japan Cup and the G1 Climax, putting on great matches with Okada, ZSJ, Ospreay, Ibushi, Suzuki, and more. He might be one of the top NJPW stars in the very near future. Keith Lee Eliminated in Round 2 of 2017 WH-128 by Marty Scurll Lee combines athleticism and size in a unique package, and he proved his skills with a fantastic 2017 and first half of 2018 before signing with WWE. While he spent a lot of this year stuck in a holding pattern in NXT, he’s started to be featured more and has had a pair of very good matches with Dominik Dijakovic in the last couple of months. Ronda Rousey Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 The biggest crossover star in WWE since Brock Lesnar returned, Ronda Rousey helped make women wrestling in the WWE main event scene a thing. It probably shouldn’t have required her presence to solidify it, but it’s definitely changed their business. As a true rookie, she even had great matches with just about every major talent in WWE’s women’s division (sorry, Bayley). Very charismatic and a natural in the ring. Private Party, Isiah Kassidy & Marc Quen Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 The upstarts of the AEW tag division, Private Party recorded an upset win over the Young Bucks on the second episode of Dynamite about an hour before I wrote this. They’re a very promising team with a lot of charisma and even more athleticism. There’s a lot to be seen with these two, but it’s a very exciting future. Cody Finished 15th in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Kota Ibushi Eliminated in Round 3 in 2013 by Hiroshi Tanahashi Eliminated in Round 4 in 2011 by Davey Richards Eliminated in Round 1 in 2009 by Davey Richards Cody may have increased his stock the most in the past two years. He’s gone from Round 1 fodder to a seemingly extra part of the Bullet Club to being a central part of the formation of AEW. He even had a five-star match with his 50 year old brother. He was half of a meaningful NWA World Championship in the year 2018. He’s shown himself to be very charismatic and has been amazingly over with the AEW crowd. As great as the past two years have been, Cody looks like he could get even better going forward. Barbaro Cavernario Eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Becky Lynch Eliminated in Round 1 in 2015 by AJ Styles Barbaro Cavernario has slightly toned his style down, doing less completely disastrous moves that look like they would absolutely destroy his body. His matches with Soberano Jr. in January, Titan in February, and Mistico in May are among the best lucha matches of the year. He’s been emphasized less over the summer before making a spot appearance in the main event of Anniversario. Sasha Banks Eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Aleister Black Banks is always a very charismatic worker capable of putting on great matches. She took a few months after having the rug pulled out from underneath her by WWE after having the women’s tag titles put on her, but she’s returned and keeps being a star and good worker (see: her match with Becky Lynch last month). She should be a top woman worker for years to come. Hirooki Goto Eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Kenny Omega Eliminated in Round 2 in 2015 by Seth Rollins Eliminated in Round 3 in 2013 by Karl Anderson New Japan’s Father of the Year (every year), Goto’s had a year filled with great matches. Both of his matches with Shingo Takagi were really great, and his pair of matches with Jay White and his match against Ishii were all great. He may never be the main eventer that it seemed like he’d be five years ago, but he should always be able to put on great matches as long as he’s close to his prime. Your ballot: Chris Jericho vs. El Hijo del Vikingo Shayna Baszler vs. Chris Dickinson Aja Kong vs. Ultimo Guerrero Fenix vs. Adam Page Sanada vs. Keith Lee Ronda Rousey vs. Private Party Cody vs. Barbaro Cavernario Sasha Banks vs. Hirooki Goto Voting closes at 7 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, or whenever I get in front of a computer after that.

Jericho/Vikingo: As much as I've enjoyed the few matches I've seen from Vikingo, the longevity of Jericho wins out this time. Baszler/Dickinson: I don't particularly enjoy either competitor, so I'll have to abstain here. Kong/Guerrero: Two legends, but Kong wins out just barely. Both of her theme songs are kickass (Jungle Emperor and Electric Eye cover). Fenix/Page: I legitimately believe Fenix is one of the best in-ring performers in the world currently. Page is good, but not that good. Although a match between these two would probably rule. Sanada/Lee:" Keighley" is wasted in Florida. Sanada is merely pretty decent. Rousey/Party: Yeah, Party wins this easily. Cody/Cavernario: I wish I was more up to date with Cavernario, but Cody takes this one. Banks/Goto: GOTO BED is enough of a reason for my BOY to get a vote. Chris Jericho - Aja Kong Fenix Keith Lee Private Party Cody Hirooki Goto
