Racism, sexism, and other touchy subjects in their old films are being erased so that everyone only knows the candy coated versions that they want people to see. Beauty and the Beast made Belle into a "strong female protagonist", despite already being a strong female protagonist, and so on and so forth Oh yea good call on the whitewashing, I didn't think of that. Gotta throw all the old stuff into the fire hole I guess. What was wrong with Rafiki? I never heard anything about him being controversial. All the other stuff makes sense.I know they took something out in one of the hyena scenes early on when it was in the theatre. I actually saw it before the change but I don't recall what it was. My sister and I saw it like 5 times so it got lost in my memory. Glad I have hard copies of all my favorite movies though it'll be a sad day when they inevitably deteriorate from time and become unplayable. I watch stuff I like over and over and I'm too sentimental to be ok with change. Oh yea there's also a scene from Dumb and Dumber that I know I saw but no one else remembers. In the toilet scene there was a part where he took one of those small paper dixie cups and was bailing it out the window. I DO have $0 deductible glass coverage under my comprehensive!**** ****If it's "safely repairable", meaning had I not been a lazy dumbass when it was just a chip, they would have had Safelite or whoever fill it for free. Now that it cracked three ways, one of them being like six inches long, it requires replacement and now I have to pay for it

It says so on wikipedia, but I don't feel like the old African shaman helping an African tribal leader feel absolved of his shame and guilt, then giving him a vision of his deceased African father falls into that category. It's literally what shaman are for, advising people, healing them, and helping them connect with the spirits. (I know Simba was voiced by 2 white guys, but it's an animated movie about characters from Sub-Saharan Africa that takes place in Sub-Saharan Africa) Even if he was a magical negro like some claim, he was a great part of the original and his abbreviated presence in the remake made the most narratively weak part of the film feel even weaker. Even worse, it took away a lot of the emotional impact that forgave the weak second act, making Mufasa's reappearance and Simba's decision to return feel like a hollow beat that was there only because it was memorable in the original E: the importance of original copies of physical media was drilled into me by George Lucas, but I don't have the money or space to keep copies of all the media I cherish. No, the policy is if they can fill in a chip and call it a day, it's zero deductible, but actual replacement of the windshield falls under regular deductibles regardless of if it was chipped or not to begin with. Instead of getting it filled when I could, I waited until it suddenly cracked, and now I have to have it replaced. E: I.E., if a rock had flew up on the highway and cracked my windshield across, I'd still have to pay the deductible because the windshield wouldn't be repairable, it'd need to be replaced.

It has arrived: The seller put Nankangs or something on it and this simply will not do, so in theory a set of bronze powdercoated HREs I found on eBay and some Michelins should show up for it next week, and I think that will be cool. Got rear ended hard today. Jeep in front of me spun on an icy overpass and ended up facing oncoming traffic (me) in my lane. I was able to stop well clear but the truck behind me either didn't get the memo or slid as well because he plowed into me and pushed me into the Jeep. Fortunately I was in a company vehicle (so no carnage pics sorry guys) and not my new to me Mazda. My face hurts and I look like I got the absolute poo poo beaten out of me but I'm ok. Guy who hit me had to have his door cut off and broke his arm (among other injuries I'm sure.) Jeep girl wasn't injured. I still have no idea how I got hit from behind and got a broken nose and bruises and cuts on my face but car crashes be wild. No airbags deployed. Frameless windows are cool.. until your car gets entombed in ice. I would have wiped the door seals down with something had I known we were gonna get this poo poo, also would have thrown cardboard over the windshield. Even if I could get into the car, I'm not scraping the windshield in front of my downstairs neighbor's window at midnight. All my work poo poo is in the car too (uniform, tools, access card to get into the store, my glasses, etc), so Uber/Lyft/etc isn't really an option to get to work until I can get into the car. Great news everybody! My friends property may have burnt but the main house and shed were spared! Even The chickens are all accounted for. I'm not on site but video from them shows gardens in the home paddock burnt to within a few metres of the house! Info is still patchy and waiting on a call back for all the details. I reckon a chopper had to have noticed and got there just in the nick of time. Also - found some poppies - should arrive in 6 business days to Canada.

Ugh, £600 bill from Hertz for paint damage to a rental car I suspect was there when we picked it up from the airport. I walked around it checking for damage when we collected it, but it was dark, the damage is small enough, and I was tired and keen to get going enough that I can believe I just missed it. I did see it when we returned the car in daylight so either I missed it when collecting or something happened when it was parked while we had it. I've got 3rd party excess insurance through insurance4carhire.com, so hopefully they'll pay out ok. I've always been a bit suspicious of how much cheaper it is than what you can buy at the hire desk, but maybe it's fine and the hire places are just gouging an incredible amount on it.
