If you read that list and thought that all of it was bad... Oof. What I do object to are the Max Powers of the porn industry, the ones taking actresses, spitting on them, slapping them, belittling them offscreen into going to see plastic surgeons. Misogyny is rife in the cali scene, both on and off camera. Now that's fine if that's your kink and it's labelled as such and everyone consents, but when that is the so called mainstream and it gives more naive viewers the impression that it's normal, something needs to change. gh0stpinballa posted:and we should be asking what makes people feel like they have to do it to survive When I see someone making money from sex work, the only reason I would feel sorry for them is how much poo poo they must put up with from stalkers. For example did you know that in both the US and UK, performers have to make their real names and addresses publicly accessible? There are ways around it, but the intent of the law is to absolutely make their real identity open to everyone. Then again, female youtubers and cosplayers get similar poo poo for much lower pay, so maybe men are just dirt. But really, the issue there is the danger inherent to an unregulated and unprotected industry. In the same way we fight for the rights of a mcdonalds worker who is doing it for the money, we should also fight for the rights of sex workers. So with that in mind, why not regulate the industry to make it safe for them, rather than banning it so that they have one less way to survive?

There's a small risk of serotonin syndrome with SSRIs, it falls under the 'use with caution' category. Not likely to be clinically significant if you're giving someone a 30-pack of pills to use as needed, more of a worry if you want to give an elderly person regular full-dose tramadol with their sertraline. Barry Foster posted:Hey Jabby sorry to bother you and feel free to ignore this but are tablets that don't have a score in them suitable for splitting? I know it'll never be the case that it's an exact 50% split in distribution (probably not even in scored tablets now that I come to think of it) but is it likely to be close enough? Depends how accurate a dose you need. You're absolutely right that splitting them by hand is likely to be a rough guess at best, using a pill cutter is better but still won't be 100% accurate. Having said that, 95% of drugs don't require totally accurate dosing to have the required effect and we use pill cutters all the time in hospital. The question to ask is, will it make a clinical difference if my dosing of this drug varies by 10% or so?

Please, just bring whatever I ordered and put it on the table and I'll do the rest. Don't: - try to pour my wine out for me, I went to a relatively posh place for a birthday meal a few months back and they did this then took the bloody (expensive) bottle away and just kept coming back to top up our glasses when they looked short. This of course completely threw off my partner and I's ruthlessly egalitarian if somewhat indicative of alcoholism drinking ritual in which we precisely measure equal glasses. Even worse, as a vagina-haver she got the last bit despite drinking more than me during the meal because old fashioned restaurants have weird tory etiquette rules. - ask if I want to 'taste the wine' first (I'll say if it's corked). - for the love of god please don't try to put my napkin on my lap for me (even worse, one place I went the waitress didn't even ask. just picked it up from in front of me then lunged at my crotch without a word and I jumped out of my skin). - Slightly different but I once came back from the toilet and found a waiter had taken my napkin off my chair and had neatly refolded it. No no no. Don't do this. Extremely uncomfortable feeling like I'm forcing people to do pointless busywork. - Don't ask me how my food is during my meal. I'm British. I'm always going to say it's fine (well, there was one time but that was loving abysmal). You always catch me with a mouthful of food. Just take my order, bring the stuff, take my money, go read a book in between. Please. Ratjaculation posted:anyone remember badly dubbed porn on channel 4...? I generally try to go places where you can clear your own table tbh. I did once go to a fancy place and it was creepy, as you say, I don't get paying extra to make people treat you like an infant. At least not unless you go the whole hog and wear a nappy while you do it.

There should be a place that does like beef bovingnon out of a tureen on the counter and you get a ladle full of it and then stick your dishes in a rack at the end. E: and you can get fried bread and black pud with everything. E2: mercifully while I like fancy food I also like normal food and my favourite "fancy" food is like, chowder or a proper fish pie or something. Stuff I can't make properly at home or is fiddly, but generally you'll get it at a nice sit down chippy. Or like a really good tomato soup or something. Again stuff that's fiddly to make one batch of but you can usually get a really nice version of in a cafe out of a giant vat. OwlFancier fucked around with this message at 01:48 on Nov 13, 2019 |

Is the weird uptick in trans debates in scotpol just because of the self declaration gender bill, or do youse reckon there's more to it? Is there a comparable bill proposal by a party in England that has attracted similar TERF activity?

I mean the UK is full of transphobes for... reasons that keep getting explained but I keep forgetting because they're just garbo people. They all crawl out of the woodwork doing articles in the papers and giving their hoity toity academic opinions as to why it's terrible whenever it comes up. Urgh. I'm pretty sure this is how the very old school french bistros worked and I love the idea. Related little bit of trivia I learned from I think Down and Out in Paris and London was that these kind of places came out of the fact that many poor Parisians lived in small rented studios with no cooking facilities, so would eat out for every meal. Bistros provided affordable food and also doubled as effective social spots where you'd get wine and chat with your neighbours. I really like the idea as a kind of quasi-communal living setup.

Bundy posted:I've read on more than one occasion that smoking weed before something like your mid twenties can really gently caress you up mentally, particularly if you're already predisposed for some conditions, something to do with how it affects development that is still occurring post adolescence. Can't find it immediately atm. There is a growing body of research that indicates that your brain is still developing and growing until you are about 24 or so. And there is also research to indicate that certain chemicals (like THC in cannabis) can have effects on the part of the brain. I would say that in the future we will see more and more research that will bridge the gap between the two areas. Anecdotally from my work, I have come across dozens of cases where young people (people in their mid 20’s) who have developed early onset schizophrenia very suddenly. And the concessions from the medical professionals are that heavy cannabis use when young is triggering it early. Now this isn’t to say that smoking weed makes you develop mental health difficulties. There were likely genetically predisposed to mental health conditions like schizophrenia already. It is just being activated earlier by use of drugs when people are young and their brains are still developing. My personal supposition from my experience is that if we are moving towards a future with legalized cannabis. (Note not decriminalising it, but making it legal to own.) it will be regulated so that you have to be 18 to buy it. (Because that is the age that all “adult” products are sold at.) But it probably should actually be sold only to people over the age of 25/26 (whatever the medical age for when the brain finishes developing at.) Now this would almost certainly be resisted, since it will be hard enough to stop 14-17 year olds from buying weed, that it you pushed the age up to the mid 20’s, you’d have an even larger group who want to buy it.
