Lladre posted:Is Death Stranding worth charging my ps4 controller for? Death Stranding is very similar to Star Citizen, in that it's a game about carrying boxes while dealing with terrain that can kill you at any minute with an avatar you barely control that exists largely to let its creator capture the likenesses of famous people. Death Stranding is slightly different to Star Citizen, in that you can reliably pick up the boxes and the terrain kills you because you fall and not because you clip through it. Unfortunately, having released, the quality of the game now paints its creator in a light that dreams cannot fix. In conclusion, if you like Star Citizen you'll probably like Death Stranding. Buy an Idris.

and since my research into porn games (and creating one) lead me down into some interesting number poo poo because as a german auditor thats just how I do: patreon porn games (that are visible) make more than $20m a year in donations, with top games earning as much as $50k/mo some games featuring content that patreon blocks go around this by having content releases on "files" sites, with links to the donation pages or bitcoin wallets -- these unseen and often borderline illegal games bring in tons of money but I don't have an easy way of researching this poo poo, but talking to some people they probably make more than double what is visible to the outside world. they also accept other digital items (csgo was huge until recently, go figure) and star citizen ships. seriously. so $35m a year and outside investors and all this poo poo for loving star citizen, of all things, is loving hilarious. they just need a dude producing 400+ renders of one of their AAA cast members loving a gizrackian lizard or whatever and they'd probably make $100m+ a year TheAgent fucked around with this message at 04:11 on Nov 14, 2019 |

I just despise all of the fake shallow "community" bullshit that props up around games, and of course its taken to an extra ridiculous level in Star Citizen, because ZDF is formed around a paid professional shill whose contract just expired. Like I've been part of clans before, but it was always just a group of guys I could jump into a match which once and while, not some mystical teary-eyed brotherhood where we all got together in embarrassing clothes and tried to look tough for the camera. Find people at work or in your actual physical community who need friends, there are plenty of them in this socially atomized oligarchical dystopia we live in.

The citizens are always calling for every sort of weird and creepy sexuality imaginable to be put into the game. But what exists of the SC "universe" is bizarrely sexless and sterile to the point of going to the other extreme. Maybe Chris is just prudish or the people at CIG know just how loathsome some of their whales are and don't want to open that door even a crack.

Adding in weird sex stuff is something I'm sure they've thought of and they're probably just waiting until interest dries up to talk about it But they'll make it try to sound harmless. Like they'll brag about how their tech is so good that every npc and player is "fully modeled" and then say something about being able to individually control each part of the players body and people will reach the obvious conclusion

Chris is always stealing the Blade Runner type look and feel for his "seedy" areas. Problem was, in Blade Runner, you knew there were strip clubs and hookers around every corner, even if you didn't see them on screen. And of course you saw plenty of them onscreen too. But in Star Citizen, the patron saint of games for sexual deviants, it's completely sexless. A strip club is about the only thing you know for a fact isn't behind any of those neon-light doors and smoking vents. I see it more like that scene in Attack of the Clones where Obi-wan and Anakin walk into that bar and get offered some weird space drug - it just has that feel of an 80s special that is made to warn kids about drugs or something, but technically still has to be safe and kid-friendly. Even when Chris is creating an area that's supposed to be black-market dangerous and criminal, it's simplistic and infantile.

Gamesguy posted:Do you have a burning desire to work as a mail carrier? Well the PS4 thread has a fair few people who are really enjoying the game, its atmosphere and its actual mechanics. Apparently delivery quests, walking simulators and inventory management can be interesting gameplay features if your game is designed around systems that make it compelling and challenging, and rewarding to progress with. In most games that poo poo is jammed in there to either fill time or limit and frustrate the player, but posters there say it works well and does some interesting things if you're into it. Admittedly an appreciable amount of them are the sort that will say Kojima is insane and/or a massive idiot but gladly play anything he makes, and even they agree his exposition is so overt and bad even for him that it has to be intentionally overdoing it for some reason. It seems to have some very big ideas it wants to get across about how people are disconnected from the world around them or something, but it is still Kojima so... Well, one of the characters is named Deadman and another is Diehardman. He's been like this for decades probably, Metal Gear has a number of these. It's also got his usual problem with lengthy cutscenes. I haven't seen if anyone's finished it yet to get a more complete post-game opinion of everything but that lot are generally alright, and they're into it enough that even the critics in the thread are hiding their spoilers and discussing what Kojima is trying to do rather than making GBS threads all over the game and anyone who likes it. Some of the things people posted made it clear it's weird and apparently has some inexplicable Monster energy product placement, but they're enjoying it, so I'll trust them that it's not an empty shell of hyped up auteur garbage. While it's not one I'd play, it's definitely a game, even if fun is apparently not the right word for it. There's mechanics and features to work with, things actually happen as you progress through it and the game seems to you know actually function. Star Citizen has a lot of work to do to catch up with what is apparently the Gran Turismo of delivery quests and walking simulators. Anyway I hope the SC thread enjoyed my second-hand report of Death Stranding, an actual video game where you carry boxes across a landscape and sometimes run into lovingly rendered actors and celebrities.

Almost certainly the latter - they remember the Wulge and backers asking for photos of Chelsea's feet. Plus of course Chris fully expects a vast mainstream audience to materialize on release, better not scare them off.
