one time I listened to a Dave Barry book on tape that I checked out from the library and for some reason it was read by Shadoe Stevens which was really incongruous

also it turns out Shadoe Stevens pronounces "advertisements" the British way, with the stress on the second syllable, even though he's from North Dakota

I got to meet Dave Barry in person for winning a write-alike contest and he is legit super nice and awkward in person

one of those rare instances of the guy actually matching his work

but yeah, his early works were definitely more notorious about being turbo afraid of the xy chromosome, although he improved on that a lot by the time he did his late 90s n 2000s works. he had a little too much 80s-90s sint regan brain poisoning and kidna mellowed out into a slightly progressive center-leftish capital L lib
